Garvey, vfcar general of the Roman Catholic diocese of Scran ton and rector of St. John's church in Pittston, has boen named as bishop of the new diocese to be created in western Pennsylvania, with the see probably at Altoona. Rev. Garvev was ordained to the priesthood in Scranton in 1809 by Bishop O'Hara.
