QUIET COUNCIL MEETING. MONDAY EVENING'S SESSION WAS WITHOUT A SENSATION. The members of the borough council met In regular session on Monday even ing. All the members were present. A petition from the Board of Trade, asking that seats be left In the I'ubllc park or replace the old ones, was refer red the park committee. A letter was read from the Board of Health, requesting council to appoint Hugh Malloy as a member. Mr. Mallox was appointed. The secretary was instructed to have the board to meet and be properly organized. The sani tary committee of council was instruct ed to meet with the Board of Health when they organize. The Rtroot commissioner's report for August was read, amounting to $152.10. It was ordered paid. The members of the street committer made a report of work needed to be done. It was decided that action on the portion of their report relating to the Ilill be laid over until next meeting. The street commissioner was instructed to have ltirkbock street, from the hotel of Mrs. Krouse north to the borough lino, repaired as soon as possible. It was agreed that all other matters speci fied in the report bo laid over until Monday evening. The burgess' report for July was read as follows: Amount received from all sources, $58.75; commissions and foes. $24.70; duo treasurer, $34.05; police oxponso, $73.05. The report was ap proved. For August: Receipt, $35; fees, etc., $13.00; due treasurer, $21.10; police expense, $54.95. The report was approved. The light and water committee re ported lights at Adams and Carbon and Johnson and Birkbeck streets placed iu good condition. The secretary was instructed to notify the Water Company to place plugs at Front and Chestnut streets. He could have gone out at f> o'clock in the morning, but his wife telegraphed that she would meet him at noon, and so he remained with Warden Cassidy until that hour. It is understood that while there are numerous other indictments pending against tho aged banker in connection with tho samo transactions, none of thorn will bo prcssad, tho chief prosecu tor having died since his conviction.
