COLVER
PTA Entertained At
Thanksgiving Program
A very large crowd attended
the Thanksgiving program of the
local PTA at the regular meet-
ing last Thursday, Nov. 17, at
7:30 p. m. in the Colver school
auditorium. The theme of the
session was, “ Parents and Teach
ers as Partners.
Mrs.. Kline, president of the as-
sociation conducted the business
session and the principal speaker
for the event was A. W. Rice,
who addressed the group on
necessary school equipment .
Featured in the program were
songs by Mrs. Thornton's second
grade students, American indian
songs and ceremonies by Mrs.
Davis’ ' third grade pupils and
reading by Mrs. D. R. Davis.
An open room visitation was
also conducted by both parents
and teachers and refreshments
were served in each room, spon- |.
sored by Mrs. Elsie Davis and
Mrs. Frank Thornton.

Mrs. Anna Mikula of Detroit,
Mich., is spending some time here
with relatives and friends.
Mildred Washic daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. John Washic was
a week end visitor here. She is
a student nurse at the Windber
Hospital.
Talbert B. Hill has returned to
his home here after spending the
past six weeks in Philadelphia,
Washington, D. C., and the state
of Virginia, He is employed by
the C. & I. Railroad here.
Mike Gonas, John Gmerek and
James Litzinger were last Sat-
urday visitors in Carrolltown.
Mildred Buckett, a student
nurse at the Windber Hospital,
visited at her home here over the
week end. : :
George Burnett of Philadelphia
president of the C. & I. Railroad,
spent a few days in town recent-
ly among friends. 2
Tom Columbus of Twin Rocks
was a recent visitor here at the
George Smith home.

Mrs. Tullio Cavatoni has re-
turned to her home here after
spending the past two months
visiting in Italy with relatives.
Jean Vicinic, a student nurse at
the Windber Hospital, visited in
town over the week end at the
home of her parents Mr. and Mrs.
Balds Vicinic.

Edward Miller Gets Lost
Saturday Despite Boast
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Miller
and children of Bedford were
week end guests at the Robert
H. Miller home. On Saturday, Ed-
ward Miller decided to go hunt-
ing and scoffed at the sugges-
tion he might get lost in strange
territory, stating ‘No one can
get lost in half a day.” But he
found it was very easily done, for
he went into the woods at Sandy
and came out at Blandburg, and
had to call his brother to come
for him.
