Tilt Over Hastings
Carrolltown High won a closely
contested game over Hastings by
a score of 32-30 in a battle wag-
ed last Thursday night on the
floor at Cherry Tree.
The game was close the entire
way, the first quarter ending in a
deadlock, 10-10. Carrolltown held
a slight one-point lead at half
time, the score standing at 19-18.
Hastings evened the count in
the third stanza with an 8-7 one-
point advantage to tie the score
at 26-all going into the last quar-
ter, when the Carrolls totaled six
point to four for Hastings.
In the Junior Varsity game,
Carrolltown came out on top,
14-5. Varsity summary:

St." Francis College visited De-
troit last Friday to lose a 61-53
decision to Lawrence Tech.
The Frankies led, 12-9, in the
first quarter, with Lawrence ed-
ging them out 26-21 at the half.
The third quarter again went to
the Red Flash, and the score at
the start of the final period stood
at a 43-all tie. Lawrence Tech
copped the win with an 18-10 ad-
vantage in the last quarter.
Maus was high for St. Francis
with 15, while he and his team-
mates held Norm Hankins, con-
tender for individual scoring hon-
ors in the entire nation, to but 10
points. Hankins has a total of
569 points in 25 games, for an
average of 22.8 per game, prior
tb the St. Francis game. The win
was No. 22 for Lawrence against
4 defeats. The Detroiters hold a
64-47 victory over Texas Wesley-
an, the squad which stopped Du-
gquesne’s all-winning streak.
