South Fork High has Vincent A. Mitek as their coach. Mitek is a graduate of St. Francis Colllege, having played under “Big Jim” Leonard. South Fork has played two games so far this vear—both on the South Fork field. Carrolltown hit pay dirt for the first time in the intial quar- ter without Cherry Tree even getting its hands on the ball Cherry Tree kicked off, stopping Carrolltown on their own 39-yard line. The Mountaineers then drove steadily up the field, Ertter scoring on a line plunge. Ertter also took the ball over for the extra point. Starting off the second frame, the Carrolls drove from their own 23-yard line to score the second time, when Lacey went off tackle for about five yards. In the same stanza, Sponsky blocked a Cherry Tree punt on the losers’ 25-yard stripe. “Red” Buck then went 15 yards for a first down on Cherry Tree's 10-yard line, thus setting up a pass play (Lacey to Hunter) for the third score. Again in the second period, Zadai intercepted a pass on Cherry Tree's own 23- yard marker and after a series of plunges, Lacey passed to Zadai for six points. Lacey made good a center plunge for the point. In the second half, the Moun- taineers scored after driving from their own 18-yard line when Jim Lacey crossed for pay dirt. Ferndale defeated Richland Twp. the week previous by the same score. The lone touchdown, and the one which proved enough for vic- tory, came in the second period. Staruch passed to Baber on the 30-yard line and Barber raced to the Ferndale two before being forced out of bounds. Banfer took the ball over on the second try. Ebensburg missed a scoring chance in the third quarter after recovering a Ferndale fumble on the 12-yard stripe, but after a penalty Ebensburg lost the ball on downs on the Ferndale 17. Ebensburg held an 11-8 edge in first downs and gained 181 yards rushing to 133 for Ferndale.
