Shifts will be made in Chicago, where the Bues will put up at the Ste- vens; in St. Louis, where the Chase will be the new stopping place, and in New York, where the Commodore will be the head- quarters for both the New York and Brooklyn games. The Pittsburgh Club again will stay at the Benjamin Franklin in Philadelphia, the Kenmore in Boston, and the Netherland-Plaza in Cincinnati. One angle that makes Pitts- burgh fans feel that the new owners of the Pirates will quickly have the Bucs on the upswing to better things is the fact that first-division baseball is almost a tradition at Pittsburgh. Steel City fans will be back on their regular diet when the Pir- ates “get back to a spot among the first four clubs in the Na- tional League. In the past 47 years, Pittsburgh has finished in the first division 37 times. Only 10 failures in the 47 years to land in the first division is just about a record for winning ball in a consistent manner. ‘With 60 full National League seasons, the Pirates finished in first place 6 times, in second place 11 times with one tie for the position, in third place 7 times with one tie, in fourth place 12 times, fifth. place 6 times, sixth place 6 times, seventh place 5 times and eighth place 5 times.
