Put Forth the Best !
Whether they win or lose, the
Pirates are always expected to put
forth their best efforts and to keep |
fighting right up to the final min-
ute. That's the only kind of base- |
ball Frisch knows, the only kind |
he will stand for.
As a player he always typified
|
siveness and constant hustle. As a |
manager he expects these same |
qualities. He's determined to win
at all times and has come to b
known as one of the hardest losers |
in the game. Actually that reputa- |
tion is a credit to him and his style |
ball, as the most successful |
school in sport eaches that hard
losers are the most frequent win-
ners because of added efforts the
dread of defeat and the zeal to win
inspires in the player. On the other
hand, the player who is not a hard
loser doesn’t care whether he wins
or not and is not apt to have the
right amount of concern between
victory and defeat.
Frisch will not waste bench
rogm on players of that type. On
a Mirsch-managed club a man must
either hustle every minute or he
will not linger on the roster for
any length of time. That is a guar-
antee that the Pirates will be
found on their toes and giving 100
percent of their possibilities in
every game.
Frisch was born in New York on!
Sept. 9, 1897. His home is in New |
Rochelle, N. Y
