Among the most solemn and im- portant duties of an American citizen is that’ of casting his ballot, and every man should be enough interested to go to the polls and cast that ballot for the man who represents the best in- terests of the community in which he lives and the state and nation of which The patriotic man, the country as an he is a part. man who loves his American should do, will not be bought, nor bribed, nor coaxed nor driven to vote for anyone he is not convinced will be the best man for the place for ~ which he has been nominated. To corrupt the ballot box is a crime against the state and nation and to vote for a corrupt or dishonest man is a crime against the voter's own soul. The issues are before our readers. All we can do is to urge that the freeman of the county be free men on next Tuesday and vote as their consciences dictate. An American has no right to be si- lent or inactive in a period of political controversy and certainly has no right to remain at home on election day, when by so doing he shows an in- difference that is little less than a crime. Be ready for Tuesday, Novem- ber 7th. CLIPPED AND CONTRIBUTED. Music at Kinkead’s Stationery Store. ‘Wait for the opening of the Luxen- berg Jewelry Co. ORPHANAGE FOR DIOCESE, —— Bishop Garvey Announces That One WII be Built at Summit, At the meeting of the Catholic priests of the Altoona diocese held last week, it was decided that an orphanage for the diocese would be built at Summit, to replace the one destroyed by fire at Loretto about a year ago, The time for beginning the work will depend on the securing of a site and raising the funds. It is likely the project will be delayed, therefore, until next spring. When the orphanage at Loretto was "| burned, it was supposed that Charles M. Schwab, also generous to the church, would come to the front with an offer to build a new one, but up to the present time he has not done so. In fact, it is even hinted that he has virtnally declined to build the orphan- age, which may be the reason for se. lecting the Summit site. However, he will probably make contribution when the time comes. ASSIGNEE'S NOTICE, Notice is hereby given that Harry A. Leiden and John P.
