Week,
The Republican primaries were held
in Blidr cotinty on Satorday
sulted in an overwhelming victory for
Congressmun Thropp and the friends
of straight party politics. There were
two candidates for the Congressional
endorsement, vis: the Hon Joseph E.
Thropp, of Everett, and Dr. George
Price, of Altoona. Dr. Price has been
a resident of Altoona or Many years,
popular railroad physician and an ex-
perienced politician. He ix personaily
acquainted with the great mass of
voters in Blair connty and earried the
county for one tine for Khel, and in
Rok peceived the regular Repoblican
nomination for the legislature. He
made a through canvas of the county
cand pur np a fight in every precinct,
Under these circomstianoes the magnif-
joent endorsement of Congressman
Thropp stands cut as a notable political
victory and will be constroed as it
should be, a deserved endorsement of
an able Congressman who stands by
his party principles and iabors faithfully
to serve all bis constituents
The Republican voters of Bir
county balieve in standing by the party
precedents. They know that it hues
been the castor to give a Congressoisn
a second term without opposition, that
the other iounties of the district have
each had two or three terms They
coneedss that this i& Bedford county =
turn and ss no word of criticism can be
said against Mr. Thropp's course in
office, loyal party men cunioeded him
the same treatment as they had given
his predecessors and gave bin this
handscme majority.

pastor of the Menhodist Episcopal

was assigried to the charge at Ashland,
Schuylkill county, by the conference
held at Danville, Pa, last week. This
is certainly a hard bow to the members
of the congregation here as they were
almost confident that Rev, Witman
would be returned to Patton for an-
other year, but as the best of friends
mast part, they wish the reverand and
his family much socoess in thelr pew
field of labor. They departed for Asli
