Tub New Yottit Election. At
IL is time, (Tuesday morning), wo ore
led to believe tliat tho Empire Stato lias
followed in tho Wake of her sister States
of Ohio and Pcimsylvinia, and thrown
herself free from the blighting etiree and
iufluenco of Radicalism. Tho result
surprises no one not even republicans
themselves. They well knew they
would bo beaten, but ttcre surprised to
hoar of such a tremendous verdict
against thetu as majorities of 03,000 in
New York City, 13,000 in Brooklyn,

that the tide of popular sentiment is in
their favor, and that another year will
sweep tho last vestige of Radicalism

Tho trouble over the Roman question
now that tho armies of Franco and
Italy arc ufield in opposition to, and in
tacit defense, on the one siJo or the
other, of Garibaldi and his party of ac

as a sufficient cause for the course of
either in entering tho Papal territory
with troops ; and the justification by
Ucn. Mciiiibrca. the Italian Prime Min
ister, for the advance of the Italian
troops over llie frontier contained in the
assertion that the diirni'y of tho Italian
government required this movement, is
a declaration fraught with mischief to
tho peace of Europe. Ic is clear that,
unless assured of co-operation from
another quarter, King Yictcr Emman
uel would not readily place Inuisclt in
antagonism to the powtr which has pla
cod him on the throne of Italy, and
which wight possibly remove him
thcuco. Tho evasion of tho September
treaty by Fiance the plea brought for
ward by Italy tor its hostile attitude is
clearly a pretext which would be want
ins but lor an existing outside influence
which interposes itself to prevent tho
consummation of peace. This influence
opposed to peace, in the sbapc of Prus

THE NEWS.

Tho French army is in occupation of present complications between France

at Monte Rotondo, to disaim immediate

to do, unless the government is put in
Accord with tho will of the nation. Na.

to submit the question to a popular vote,
hut tho plan has not been accepted.
Thi? morning's news give us the
