Court. The April term of Court
commences here on Monday next. As
there is no jury, the time will be occu
pied in hearing petitions, &c.
Godey's Lady's Rook. This excel
lent monthly publication for May is on
our table. It has its usual variety of
excellent reading matter, fashions, ko.
Musical. We learn that an effort
is being made to get up a class to take
lessons in mush in Ridgway, and are
informed that if ten pupils are procured,
a teacher will come.
Wintry. No doubt even the deni
zens of our mountainous, almost Green
landish county, were surprised to find
lrom three to four inches of snow on the
ground yesterday morning.
Mad Doo.. Joseph George, of Fox
township, about a week ago, was horribly
bitten by a dog, supposed to be mad,
owned by John Myers. The dog was
soon captured and killed.
" Swei Lager." Our friend Wind
felder, of the St. Mary's Brewery,
" shoots off his mouth " quite lively in

advertising columns it will be noticed
that we aire to have two dentists visit
our village during the coming month.

have a splendid opportunity to have
them extracted.
' Lucky. Our lumbermen have been
unusually lucky this season in getting
their lumber into the larger streams.
This, we suppose, is mainly owing to
the fact of having plenty of water. We
hope they may bo equally lueky in ob
taining remunerative prices.

sun, they would get tho telegram there
in about five minutes and would see the
earth coming in eight minutes and would
have nearly two months to prepare for
the blow, which they would receive
about fifteen years before they heard the
original explosion.

Notice is hereby given to the Coroner,
Justices of the Peace, and Constables of
the county -of Elk, that they are by
these precepts commanded to be then
and there in their prober persons, at 10
o'clock a. m., of said day, with their
rolls, records and inquisitions, and other
remembrances, to do those things which
their offices appertain to bo done, and
that all Justices of said county make
returns of all the recognizances entered
into before them, to the Olerk of the
Court as per Act of Assembly, passed
May 4, 1834. And those who are
bound by their rccognizcnces to prose
cute the prisoners that are or shall be in
the jail of said county of Elk, and to be
