wanted to make a merry evening. It is

Dan. Rice of Erie entertained the aud

monwealth of Pennsylvania.
One person for Congress, to represent
the counties of Cameron, Clearfield,
Elk, Erie, Forest, Jefferson, M'Kean,

the counties of Clearfield, Elk and
Forest, in the House of Representa

or otherwise, a subordinate officer, or
agent, who is or shall be employed un
der the legislative, judiciary, or execu
tive department of this State, or United
States, or any city or incorporated dis.

city, commissioners of any incorporated
districts, is by law incapable of holding

Al-o, That in tho fourth section of
the act of Assembly entitled " An Act
Relating to Elections and for other
rurposes, approved April 16, 1849, it
is enacted that the 13th section, " shall
not be construed as to prevent any Mil
itia orncer or borough olhcer trom scrv-
ing as Judge, inspector or clerk at any
general or special election in this Com
monwealth."
Also, That in the 01 section of said
act is enao.ed that " every general and
special election shall be opened between
tho hours of eight and ten in the fore

The general, special, city, incorpora
ted districts and township elections, and
all elections, for electors of President
and Vice President of the United States
shall bo held and conducted by tho In
spectors and J udges elected as aforesaid,
and by clerks appointed as in hereinaf
ter provided.
"No person shall be permitted to
vote at any election, as aforesaid, but
white free man of the age of twenty one
j ears or more, who shall have resided in
this State at least one year, and in the
election district where ho offors to vote
at least ten days immediately preooed-

paid a Mate or county tax, which shall
have been assessed at least ten days be.
fore the election. Hut a citizen ot the
United States who have previously been
a qualiued votci ot this 5tato and re,
moved therefrom and returned, and who
shall have resided in tho election dis
trict and paid taxes as aforesaid, shall
bo entitled to vote after residing in this
state six months. Provided, That the
white freeman, citizens of tho United
States are between the ages of twenty
one and twenty-two years, and have re
sided in the election district tcu days as
aforesaid, shall not have paid taxes.
Pursuant to the provisions contained
in the 4th Section of the Act aforesaid
the Judges of tho aforesaid districts
shall respectively take charge of the
certificates or return of elections of their
respective districts, and produce them
at a uieetinff of ono Judge from each
district, at the Court House in Ridgway
on the third day alter the election, be
ing for the present year, on FRIDAY,
the 12th day of October next, then and
there to perform the duties required by
law of said Judges , also, where a Judge
by sickness or unavoidable accident, is
unable to attend said meeting of Judges,
then tho certificate or return aforcsai
shall bo taken in charge by one of the
Inspectors or Clerks of the election of
said dirtnct, who 6hall do and perform
the duties required ot said Judge una
blc to attend.
