Rev. S. Wallace Mitchell, of Reyn
oldsville, a former pastor of the SykeB
ville Bnpti-t church, who acted as a
supply minister at Kaylor, Pa , during
the summer, has been elected to the
pastorate of the First Baptist church of
East Brady and will take up his work in
that prosperous railroad town the
coming week. Last Sunday morning
Rev. Mitchell occupied the pulpit of
the Reynoldsville Baptist church and
delivered a pleasing and scholarly
eermon to a good audience.

Some Idea of the extent of the work
which is done by the Relief Depart
ments oi tne Pennsylvania Railroad
System is gathered from a report Issued
. to-aay which shows that during the
first seven months of this year nearly

unaoio to work- and to families of
members who died. During the month
of July alone, the sum of 1102,337.04
was paid out in benefits, and since the
Relief Departments for both the Lines
kast and West of Pittsburgh and Irie
were established the sum of $28,820,
337.24 has been paid out.
On the Lines East of Pittsburgh and
Erie In the month of July payments to
tne amount of 1114,331 3i were made
by the Relief Funa. In benefits to the
families of members who died 140,668.
33 were paid, while to member's in
capacitated for work the benefits
amounted to $73,673 00. The total
payments on the Linos East of Pitta-
ourgn since the Relief Fund
established in 1886 ha
$21,003,248 64.
In July, the Relief Fund of the
Pennsylvania Lines West of Pittsburg
paid out a total of $48,005.65, of which
$18,250 00 were for the families of
members who died, and $29,755.65 for
members unable 10 work. The sum of
$7,817,088 70 represents the total pay
menu of the Relief Fund of Pennsyl
vania Lines West since it was establish
ed in 1889.
RESIDENCE OF J. N. SMAIL
ON EIRE LAST WEDNESDAY
Last Wednesday evening a fire in the
borne of J. N. Small, in West Reynolds
ville, called out the two Reynoldsville
fire companies and filled the street with
several thousand people for a half hour,
but the actual damage nascomparitive
ly small. An srtlole of clothing had
been hung oyer the arm of a gas jet,
and one of the joints of the gas pipe
leaked slightly. It is supposed that the
gas leaking below Ignited from the gas
burning above and while burning set
fire to the clothing. A bed near by,
the carpet beneath and the wall paper
wore burnt before water could be
thrown on. The fire companies on the
way to the scene turned back when the
word came that there was no danger.
