5th, instead of September 6th, as
announced last week.
The Clarion and Brookville baseball
teams will put up their UBual steady
fame at Nolan Park Carnival.
Civil court is being held at Brookville
this week. There are a number of
Reynoldsville cases on the docket for
trial.
- County Superintendent Jones, of
Brookville, is in West Virginia this
week attending a series of educational
meetings.
Mrs. Addle Parcells, of Philadelphia,
will address a union meeting to be held
in the Baptist church Sunday evening
under the auspices of the W. C T. U.
The Winslow township school board
will meet at Frank's Tavern Saturday
afternoon, August 27th. This will be
the last regular meeting before the
opening of the township sohools
September 10th.
A number of the census enumerators
of Jefferson county are agitating a re
union and plcnio near Punxsutawney
August 30th. The enumerators had so
many queer experiences that a day to
gether "swapping' tales would be
rather enjoyable.
A number of Reynoldsville people
attended the Goodvllle "Buckwheat"
Plcnio last Thursday, An Immense
crowd was at tne place and all were
soaked by a heavy downpour of rain lu
the afternoon. There was no shelter on
the grounds.
A number of little lassies, headed by
Eleanor Drake, Althea Schughrou and
Marguerite Shannon will hold a moon
light corn roast this evening. The girls
are praying for a pleasant evening and
their mothers are praying that the
doctors will not be overworked to-mor
row.

Reynoldsville relatives last week.

located at Youngstown, Ohio, where
he has secured a good position.

home ot Mrs. Mame Shaffer in West
Reynoldevllle. on Thursday evening.

D. E. Stanford has rented his farm
near Pardus, on Pardus Hill, to James
E. Wllkeson. Mr. Stanford will move
to Reynoldsville and spend his re
malnlng years in well earned ease.
Dr. B. E. Hoover and sons, Burton
and Frederick, were at Juneau, Indl
una county, Sunday, visiting Aaron
Stiver, a brother-in-law of Doctor's,
Dr. Hoover and Burton returned Sun
day evening but Frederick will remain
at Juneau some time.
A. H. Fleming, who attended the
Grand Temple of the Knights of
Pythias at South Bothlchem as dole
gate from the local lodge, extended his
trip to Philadelphia after the session
of the order and while there witnessed
an American League ball contest be'
tween Philadelphia and the Chicago
nine.
S. C. Henry disposed of the greater
part of what remained of his stock of
groceries Saturday afternoon and even'
log at public auction. John Steer, of
Indiana county, was the auctioneer and
proved himself not only an artist in
selling goods but a fellow of infinte jest
and something of an acrobat on the side.
Rev. Parley P. Womer, who visited
in Reynoldsville several weeks, went
to Kane last week to "visit his pajents,
Mr. and Mrs D. Li. P. Womer. On the
25th Mr. Womer will go to Chautauqua,
where he will join his wife and tbey
will then return to their home in St,
Paul, Minn., where Rev. Womer is
pastor of the Park . Congregational
church, one of the largest and most
inflential churches in the city.
Dorothy May, infaut daughter of Mr,
and Mrs. Everett Groyegj of Punxsu
tawneyr died at that place, Sunday,
August 21. The body was brought to
home of Mrs. Groves' father, Levi
Beebe, at Sandy Valley, and funeral
services were held Monday afternoon,
conducted by Rev. Dr. A. J. Meek,
pastor of the Reynoldsville Baptist
church. Burial was made In the
cemetery at Sandy Valley. BQ3

Miss Margaret Adam, sister of
Thomaa F. Adam, of Reynoldsville,
and a former resident of town, was
married in June of the present year to
a gentleman at Denver, Colorado, and
will reside there in the future.
S. C. Hepler, editor ot the New
Bethlehem Leader and a former prin
cipal of the Reynoldsville pubilo
schools, spent Monday night in town.
As a newspaper editor Mr. Hepler has
been conspicuously successful aid is
putting out one of the cleanest and
brightest papers la Clarion county.

Wednesday, August lTtli, twenty-five of
tho lady friends of Mrs. A. L. Best, drove to
her home at Briar HIM. with well filled
baskets and spent the day with her. All re
port a pleasant time. The scales will cer
tainly not want them to come again for they
had the biggest Job of the day. Each lady
had to be weighed and they tipped the beem
from 08 to 215 pounds. Following are the
