Last Thursday afternoon a house owned by Mrs. Charles Grubbs, on "Poverty Flat," was almost totally de stroyed by fire. The fire company re sponded promptly. ' One of the largest gas wells ever struck In this section was drilled in on the Buzzard farm In Eldred township, under lease to the Brookville Oil and Gas Co., on Friday of last week. Those competent to judge estimate that the well la good for about two and one half million feet a day. The striking of such a big gasser has caused considerable excitement among tbe oil and gas men who have interests in that locality. Brookville Democrat. Mission in Catholic Church. Douthlt, in Wlnslow township, some time Wednesday night. Mrs. Sprankle was stricken wltn paralysis about one year ago- and never enjoyed good health after that. She bad been confined to bed three weeks with valvular heart trouble and some other ahictions of the body and some member of the family bad been Bitting up at night with her, but Wednesday evening she said that she was feeling better and that it was not neccesary for anyone to stay up that nlgbt. They all retired and In the morning Mrs. Sprankle was found dead in bed. having died during the night. Her maiden name was Martha Jane Saltsglver. She was born at Walston, Jefferson county, Pa., April 23rd, 1845, ard was G4 years o'd last month. She was united in marriage to William Sprankle and unto tbem twelve chil dren were born, four of whom preceded tbe mother Into the Eternal Land. The following sons and daughters sur vive the parents: Mrs. Mary Dickey, of Wlsbaw, Jacob Sprankle, of Big Run, Mrs. Matllua Helmbeckle, of Brook ville, Mrs. A. E. Douthlt, W.
