Please Dontoveriooktnis Notice
Again we request and urge our subscribers, whether only
a year or less, or more than a year behind, to kindly co-operate
with us and help us meet the new postoffice ruling, the
purpose of which so few of us understand, and which the
weekly newspapers are so generally opposed to. We will
appreciate the favor of prompt payment and prompt renew
al. Please do not overlook this notice as it is of great im
portance to you and The Star. Early and prompt atten
tion will save misunderstandings and unnecessary and un
meant ill-feelings later on, about April 1st, when this new
rule goes into effect.
By One Who Knows Him.
As most of our readers know, Horace
G. Miller, of Punxsutawney, is a candi
date for the nomination for Represent
ative on the Republican ticket. His
candidacy has called forth commend
atory remarks from practically all our
country papers. We wish to add a
word to what we have already given".
We have known Mr. Miller now over
ten years and have met him in business
as well as social lines and think we ate
quite well acquainted with him.
Therefore, speak not so much that we
believe as that we do know when
we Bay that for a square, all-around
man, of honesty, intelligence, and ex
perience he is second to none aspiring
to this office. In addition, be is also
"the right kind of man" morally and
can be depended upon to consistently
and actively support every true interest
of the people. We honestly believe,
therefore, that the Republican voters
of Jefferson county would do honor
to themselves as well as to a worthy
man if they would give him this po
sition. If all our legislators were like
blm we would have no need to fear for
the right conduct of state affairs. We
hope to be able later on to congratulate
him on his triumphant nomination.
Jefferson county Republicans cannot
afford to turn down bo good a man
for the position. Big Run Tribune,

Experience Would be Valuable.
In A. F. Reitz, of Beaver town
ship, the people of Jefferson county
would have a practical and experienced
man for county commissioner. His ex
perience In stone work alone would be
of great benefit to the people, as county
bridge bulldir; and repairing Is one
of the great features of the office; be
having been a stone mason and con
tractor and builder of county and state
bridges and railroad work. Besides
Mr. Relts is a capable man in other
ways. He has been a life long Re
publican and active worker and has
helped to build up Its majority in the
county. He now seeks the reward of
this office and being well deserving and
quite popular and well known over
the county, bis chances for the nomina
tion are certainly good. We shall be
glad to congratulate htm on his nomina
tion. Big Run Tribune.

Just about old enough to chew the

plied, "that was about the difference
between pap's and mam's sge when
they were married and they have been
living together ever since." She even
asked me to go out for a sleigh ride, but
I declined as I had pap's boots on
at the time and bao to hurry home.
