The finan cial campaign was closed at midnight Saturday night, and the success of the project was announced by blowing of whistles and ringing of bells. The Brotherhood of the Presbyterian church have had little boxes put up in the P. R. R. passenger station and other publio places in town in which are little booklets on the Gospel accord ing to John, pamphlets, &c, which are free for any person who wants one. Ex-Burgess Lloyd L. Gourley, who was foreman of the Reynoldsville Volunteer office a number of years, resigned that position to accept a position as reporter on the DuBois Evening Express. Mr. Gourley took up his work in DuBois on Monday of this week. About seventy-five members of the Protected Home Circle went to DuBois Friday evening on special trolley car and attended the special meeting and banquet given by the DuBois Circle. The Reynoldsville people had a very pleasant time and speak very highly of the hospitality of the DuBois Circle. A crazy man wandered around through tbe streets of Falls Creek several days last week, to the alarm of tbe citizens of that borough. An educational meeting, attended by teachers of Reynoldsville, West Rey noldsville, Sykesville and Wlnslow township, was, held in Assembly hall at this place last Friday evening. Gleason, passenger engin eer on the Low Grado Division of P. R. R., who has resided with his mother in this place several years, has been assigned to one of the passenger runs between DuBois and Red Bank, with DuBois luyovor. Mr. Gleason will move his mother to DuBois as soon as bo can get a house. Charles Montgomery, who was engineer on the DuBois run Mr. Gleason has taken, and moved from Sligo to DuBois this year, has been given one of tbo fast mall trains and he will likely move to Driftwood. The home of Mead Murphy, West Reynoldsville, was entered by burglars about two o'clock Monday morning and the burglars secured about $20 00 In cash. Entrance was gained through a back window. The lock of the writing desk was picked aod the money taken out of the desk. The burglary, evi dently, was committed by local talent who had knowledge of place where money was concealed, as nothing else was touched. Burglaries have been committed In DuBois and Punxsutawney almost every night for the pa t two weeks, and the police of those towns have been unable to apprehend or get any trace of the robbers. It is supposed that the bur glary in those towns is being done by persons who are well acquainted In the localities where they operate. Fell Of Fast Freight. Robert Ewing, of Roup, suburb of Pitteburg, fireman on the P. R. R., fell off a fast freight train between Fuller and Camp Run early Saturday morning and was seriously, if not fatal ly injured. The train was coming east and was running about thirty-five miles an hour when Fireman Ewing fell off. No one saw him fall off and it is not known how the accident happened. Engineer John Denny did not miss him until the train bad run past Camp Run. When the trainmen found Ewing he was unconscious. He was brought to Reynoldsville on the 6. 85 a. m. passen ger train and was taken to the office of Dr. J. C. King. The doctors found a bad contusion on rightjejnpla and fracture of the skull Ewing was unconscious most of (he forenoon. Charles Robertson Had Left Ankle Brok en at Clearfield While Play, ing Saturday, Charles Robertson, quartorback on Reynoldsville High School foot ball team, met with an accident In tbe game atCloarfleld Saturday afternoon which will make it neoessary for blm to use crutches for several months. In a rush in the first half of tbe game Charley's left ankle was broken in two places. A Clearfield doctor reduced tbe frac tures and put a plaster parts cast on ankle and Charley was brought home with the other players Saturday night. Sunday the cast was' removed by a home doctor, tbe ankle examined and a new cast put on it. This Is the fourth year the Reynolds ville High School foot ball team has been playing and this is the first serious accident that has happoned to any of the players. HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL. Mrs. Peter Baum Met With Accident by Twist of Foot Mrs. Peter Baum, of Emerickvllle, mother of our townsman, John H. Baum, broke her right thigh In her home Monday afternoon by twist of log. MrB. Baum was turning around when her foot caught in a pleoe of carpet, twisting hor leg and the thigh bone broke. After the fracture Mrs. Baum sank to the floor. Dr. J. C. King was summoned and he roduced the fracture. Mrs. Baum is 78 years old and it is likely the broken bone will be Blow in knitting. Some Papers Increasing Subscriptions. On account of tbe Increased cost within the last year or two of paper, Ink, labor, . material, etc., that enters into the production of a newspaper, a number of county papers have in creased their subscription price from $1.00 to $1 60 per year. None of the Jefferson county weeklies have In creased the price yet, but every paper In the county should be increased to $1.50 a year. The Kittanning Times, the first paper in Armstrong county to reduce the subscription price to $1 00 per year, announced last week that after Dec. 1, 1907, the subscription price of the Times would be raised to $1.50 a year. Sblck and Miss Bertha Thomas were at Hawthorn Thursday attending the funeral of Jacob Shick. who died at his home at Ohl 00 Tuesday, October 22nd, and was buried at Hawthorn on Thurs day.
