The Daily "Sur."
Today THE STAR makes li first ap
pearance as a daily paper and lor tlu
present will likely only be issued during
Old Home Week. We are not fully
equipped to issue a first-class daily con
tinuously, but If the merchants of
Reynoldsville are anxious to have the
daily continue longer than this week
and will give it the advertising patron
age they are giving It this week, we
will get equipped and continue to pub
lish The Star dally.
We have experienced considerable
difficulty In getting typesetters to set
the dally this week, and are somewhat
handicapped, but expect to be able to
give the readers of The STAR all the
news of Importance that occurs In our
town and community each day during
this week.
If you have visitors, or news Items of
any kind, report the same to The Star
office, or to gome one counected with
The STAR force and It will be published.
The dally will be sold on the streets
by boys, at the news stand or at THE
Star office for a cent a copy. AVe
solicit the patronage of all our citizens
for ibis week. There Is not a family in
town but can spend six cents for a homo
dally for one week.
INTER COUNTY LEAGUE
Organized at Sykesville Several days
Ago With Six Teams in League.
The Inter-County League is the
name of a new base ball league organiz
ed at Sykesville recently. There are
six teams in the league, as follows:
Bathmel, Soldier, Sykesville, Eriton,
Helvetia and DuBols I idepunuonts.
The schedule committee, Floyd
Phllllppl, of Sykesville, D. Miiehell, of
Soldier, and E. C. Lynn, of Helvetia,
have games scheduled for every day
this week. .. .

Merchants Will Turnout in Parade and
Carry Japanese Parasols. - -
On account of the merchants' and
manufacturers' parade to-morrow, Tues
day, afternoon tbu merchants of. town
have been requested to close their
stores at noon and all the merchants
and male clerks turnout in the parade
in a body, each one carrying a Jap
anese parasol. It will add to the ap
pearance of the parade.
Boys and Girls Wanted to Practice Fancy
, Marching,
AH school children between the ages
of 8 and 14 years are wanted at the
public school building at 9:00 a. m. to
morrow, Tuesday, to practice fancy
marching for Thursday forenoon. The
school building will be open from 9.00
a. m. to 12.00 noon Thursday to visitors
and an exhibition oi fancy marching will
be given, hence the practice to-morrow.
To the Guests.
All the guests In Reynoldsville during
Old Home Week should go to the
headquarters rooms in the Bing-Stoke
building, corner Main and Fifth otroets
and register. A clerk Is In constant
attendance there and the register will
be a roll of honor to bo kept for future
reference and use.

Miner Killed.
Joe Piozesky, a miner, was electro
cuted Saturday while at work in the
Stanley mines by the trolley wire that
furnishes electric power for the motors.
A cave-in of the roof knocked the wire
down on him. '

Doois Swing Open on Wednesday Night
f N xt Week, Aug 28.
When thy big doors of the Pittsburg
Exposition swing open at seven o'clock
Wednesday evening,' August 28th, the
thousand of visitor who are accus
tomed to visit the Expo on the opening
night will witness a myriad of changes.
Day and night the hundreds of work
men are kept agoing now to have the
$100,000 worth of improvements com
pleted in time for the reception of the
multitudes. Muslo bull, which visitors
have grown accustomed to in years
gone by, is a thing of the past. Instead
there stands a huge auditorium with
elevated floor, of wonderful acouetlc
properties and capable of seating 3,600
people. Here on Wednesday evening,
August 28th, will be dedicated Pitts
burg's New Musto Hall a ball that
music lovers have pined for for years
but Which they had hardly dared to
realize.
The other improvements being made
in Machinery Hall and the main build
ing are progressing rapidly and Presi
dent Francis J. Torrance of the Wes
tern Pennsylvania Exposition Society
during the past week congratulated the
board of directors and the management
on the progress being made.
The Bostoek animal arena, which
occupied a large space in Machinery
Hall last year, is being redoubled in
size for this year's bIiow. Last season
it was one of the features of the Expo
sition, but this year with the enlarged
arena, It will be more entertaining than
ever.
There will be many new inventions in
the way of amusement this year at the
exposition. In the amusement arena,
outside Music Hall, there will be a
number of up-to-date fun devices, aside
from the merry-go-round, roller coast
er, Ferris wheel, etc. The pony track
between Machinery Hall and the main
building is being Improved this year
and will no doubt prove more popular
than ever to the little ones.

Ox Roast.
An ox roast will be held at the
Henderson Grange grove on Wednes
day, August 23. This grove Is located
one mile east of Eleanora Shaft and two
miles north of Big Run.. The program
for the duy consists of ball games,
muslo and speeches by prominent
spoakers. Meals and refreshments will
bi served in Grange hall during the
day and evening.
