New Pension Bill.
Senator Penrose has Introduced a
bill proposing to give all Union soldiers
so unfortunate as to fall Into the bands
of the Confederates during the Civil
War, the sum of $2.00 a day for every
day pent In a Southern prison between
May 25, 1S61 and May 25, 1805, and In
addition a general pension of $12.00 a
month from the pasBBgo of the act.. The
bill will no doubt become a law as It
should. This will find a large number
of soldiers yot living In Clearfield

Town Counell Meeting.
The regular meeting of town council
was hold Tuesday, Deo. 1st, president
Applegate In tho chair. Members
present, Williams, Rltzle, 8a.vers, A.
P. King, Dr. King.
Minutes of the previous meeting road
and approved.
Collector I. M. Swartz reported taxes
collected as follows : Borough, Ml .00)
borough bond, $50.00 j water, $18.80 (
light, $18.80 , police, $18.80.
On motion a resolution was passed to
employ the Street Commissioner to
look after the hose and dry them after
each fire, or after being used, anr" to do
all flushing of sewers whore the city
hoso Is used. Any person taking the
city hose and using them for flushing
sewers or for any other purpose except
for fighting fire shall be fined ten ($10.)
dollars for eneh and every such offense.
Representative from the Fabric Hosn
Co. and the Hevere Rubber Co. were
present with samples and prices of fire
hose. After a careful consideration of
the matter on motion tho clerk was
authorized to enter Into an agreement
with Mr. R. II. Yeager, tho agent, for
tho Revere Rubber Co. for 500 foot of
hoso.
Tho clerk was also authorized to
purchase one dozeu wrenches, one
dozen hoso carriers und one Calahan
nozzle.
Bills and Interest amounting to $174.21
were ordered paid.
On motion the following resolution
was passed :
Whkreas, tho town council of the
Borough of Reynoldsville has been
heretofore requested by the newspapers
of tho town and a number of its citizens,
to mako street Improvements and for
that purpose, that tho town council
obtain the consent of tho electors of the
Horough at an election to be held In
February next, to Increase tho Indebted
ness of the Borough to mako said streot
Improvements by the Issuing and the

ordinance to bo submitted to tho
