Delightful Hsllowe'en Party.
"Jnm nt wltchlnc hour of eight
And M, the fulrten rwml ynnr rnte.
Hi-voal to nnna this iwerrt plot
Or woe-not luck will be your lot."
This unique vorso was the means of
collecting about forty of Edith and
Lena Herpel's frlonds together for a
real Hallowe'en party last Saturday
evening. As tho gueBts approached the
house the only visible sign of life was a
large jack-o-lantern in corner of front
porch. They were received at the door
and directed upstairs, where to their
hoi ror they porcelved two weird objocts
commonly designated as ghosts, who In
their weird way directed each one
where he should doposlt bis or her
wraps. Tho guests then assembled In
tho down stairs rooms, which, like the
porch, were illuminated by jack-o-lan-
terns.
After all tho guests had assembled,
they were in turn Introduced to tho
three witches, who gavo them an Ink
ling of tho future. Following this re
freshments, especially appropriate for
a faallowe'cn party, wore served.
The party then entered upon a very
trying ordeal, that of biting an apple
suspended from the celling by a string.
Tho contestants woro blindfolded, then
turned around several times and then
they started in what they thought
the direction of the suspended
apple. A few found the apple, but a
great many came far short of the mark
and although almost desperate were
compelled to give up the' trial. In some
inexplicable way, however, Wallace
Mitchell succeeded In getting the
largest bite and of course was granted
tho prize.
At about 11.15 tho 'party started on a
grand march. They formed in line In
parlor, sitting and dining room. After
getting well In lino they were led up
stairs, down back stairs, and out through
the collar. They followed their leader
through all Borts of places until about
11.50 when they returned to Herpel's.
After paying respects to the sisters each
ono wended his homeward journey, well
satisfied with their evening.
