Friday night the girls of the High
School kidnapped ono of the Junior
News of Interest
February 3rd, 1003, was the thirteenth
anniversary of North Elk Run Grange,
No. 913, Tioga county. Many visitors
wore present, among them tbo Master
of Wulsboro Grange, who gave a good
address. After an Interesting program
was rendered supper was sorved and
thus a pleasant and profitable evening
was enjoyed by all.

Camp Grange in Union township was
organized with 35 charter members.
This was a grand meeting, visiting

Subordinate and 6 Pomona Granges
were organized, while 8 new Juvenile
iGranges have boon reported In the State
since the meeting of the National
Grange held In Lansing November last.
Columbia Grange No. 83, of Bradford
county, on January 28 held an all day
meeting lo observation of tbe twenty
ninth anniversary of its organization.
The morning was devoted to a private
meetlug when three candidates were
initiated in the degrees of Harvester
and Husbandman and the, general work
of the Order. Tho afternoon social in
tercourse and consideration of taxation
were prominent features, while tbe ev
ening was occupied with literary,' mus
ical and Innocent amusements by young
Mora Riots.
Disturbances of strikers are not near
ly as grave as an Individual disorder of
tbe system. Overwork, loss of sleep,

Tho members of Fort Grango, No.
951, Huntingdon oounty, contemplate
building a now hall. On Saturday,
February 14th, they bad a very pleasant
and profitable meeting, four new mom
bors were rpcolved 'and moro aro ex
pected. Tbe grange could not be In a
more flourishing condition.
Evory rural community needs at leant
three Institutions: the Christian church,
the public school and the Grange hall.
The church to foster the spiritual In
terests of the people, the school to give
tbe children tbe foundation of an educa
tion, and the grango as a social, educa
tional business center. Few would care
to live where the first two aro not
within easy reach, but the community
that baa only these suffers a great loss.
Broad intellectual and even moral de
velopment come only from contact of
mind with mine. In tbe country this
contact does not come from the nature
of tbe surroundings as it does in tbe
centre of population. It must be pro
vided for or tbe people will lead isolated
lives. Isolation means narrowness and
dullness. When the people meet to
give the band clasp of fraternity, to de
liberate on questions of common inter
est, and to co-operate in matters that
ooroern them, dullness and narrowness
have no place.
