McEntiro was called to Wllliainsport Saturday to attend the funeral of his brother, Lawrence Mo Ep:iro, who died Saturday morning, August 2. The deceased was in his 77th year. George Hughes, who was elected dele gate from tho Roynoldsvlllo B. P. O. E. lodge to Grand Lodge, which meets at Salt Luke City, Utah, will leave hero this afternoon. James Hughes, proprietor of Hotel Hughes at Ruthmol, has sold his hotel to Daniel Wise, of Sykesvllle, and F. H. Wooer, of Henderson township. Mr. Wise, and experienced hotel man, having boon proprietor of a hotel at Sykesvllle and ono at Big Run, will move Into Hotel Hughes and take charge of it as soon as tho license is transferred. Mr. Hughes has been in the hotel business at Ratbmol a num ber of yoars. We have not learned yet what he expects to do aftor he gets out of Hotel Hughes. Had to Shoot Horse. Lust Thursday forenoon "Fred Pony," one of E. C. Burns' livery horses, had a leg broken by stepping Into a bole in a oulvert near Desire. A traveling man named Fry was driving tbe horso at tbe time. He telephoned for Mr. Burns, who went to Desire and shot the horse, "Fred Pony" was ot."lof Burns' best livery horses, but bo1 was getting a little old. Mr. Burns was offered one hundred dollars for the horso the Sun day before the accident. The defective oulvert was in McCulmout township and Mr. Burns may decide to try to get damage from tbe township. Barney McCann Lit a Stick of Dynsmlte and Now he la Buried. Barney McCann, who formerly resided on "poverty flat," moving from hore to Brookvillo soveral months ago, was burled In Brookvillo Saturday after noon. Bnrney would got drunk fre quently while ho lived on "poverty fiat" and when In that condition he would most gunorully give his wife a whipping. Ho was arrested soveral times for abus ing his wife And finally was sentenced to jail several months for it. Last wook Barney was on a "spree" and while his wife was out washing for somebody he went home and told tho children he would blow up the house and kill all of them. Tho children got frightened nnd ran out of the house. Barney went to second story of tho houso, carrying two sticks of dynamite with him, and In a few minutes there was a terriblo ex plosion, blowing out a portion of second story of house. Barney was found with his head almost blown off. Ho lived a few minutes, hut could not speak. When the man was able to work he was en gaged in blowing nut stumps and that Is how he happened to have dynamite at hand. Ho leaves a wife and large family, somo of whom are marrlod. Stockholders' Meeting. A meeting of the stockholders of tbe Reynoldsville Manufacturing Company was held In tho Masonic hall last even ing. A report from the comtnitte solicit ing stock was very favorable, Indicating that tho $25,000 stock would bo raised without difficulty. M. C. Coleman, one of tho directors, went to Pittsburg to day to see about buying tho machinery for tbo now plant. There will bo another meeting of the stockholders at tho Building and Loan olllco to-morrow, Thursday, evening, at which time a presldont and secretary will bo elected. Union Church Dedicated. Tbo now union church at Boechtroo was dedicated last Sunday afternoon free of debt. It is a neat frnino edifice that cost about $2,000. This Is tho third union church built at Boechtreo. Lcnkord appeared before the school board lost evening and with drew bis application for principal of the borough schools and Prof. C. V. Smith, of Bedford, Pa., was elected for ono year at a salary of $!XX) for tho term of eight months, an increase of $140 for the term. Street R'y Co's $15,000 Bond Accepted To Begin Work Within Sixty Days. The ordinance granting the Punx- sutawnoy Stroet Passenger Railway Company a franchise to build a street railway in this borough, passed second and final reading last night and is now a law. Tho company put up a $25,000 bond last night, which was accepted by tho town council, to begin work on tho extension of tho trolly lino from Elea- nora to Reynoldsville within sixty days and to have tho road completed within elghtoen months, providing there aro no legal obstructions. We understand that an engineer corps Is to begin sur veying on the Eleanora end of the lino to-day. We have not learned yet just where tho trolly line will entor Reyn oldsville. Pickpockets at DuBois. Albert Reynolds had $25.00 picked out of his povkot at DuBois Friday, and had It not boon that W. II. Bell's gold watch caught on bis belt, Mr. Bell would have returned homo without a timepiece. A pickpocket had hold of tho watchchain when Mr. Bell felt tho pull on his belt. He hit the thief on the noso, but tho follow oscaped In tho crowd before be could be caught. Mr. Reynolds lost his money gottlng on the P. R. R. train at DuBois to start home. Harry Null at Home. Two months ago mention was mudo in The Stak that Harry Null, olgh teen-year-old son of Ex-constable John H. Null, of Sykcsvlllo, bad bis right log crushed in a freight elevator at Chi cago, 111., and had to have leg am putated closo to hip. Mr. Null went to Chicago and found bis son very near death's door. He remained with him two weeks and tbe boy's health was bo much Improved that Mr. Null returned homo. Over threo weeks ago Mr, Null was called to Chicago tbe second time on account of tbe critical condition of bis son. He remained In tbe "Windy City" until Harry was able to come home with him.
