Small-pox Communication,
In several different papers we soe
about Sykesville having small-pox so
badly. There has been seventy or
more cases In town since Christmas and
not one has proven fatal. One child
three weeks old had It and It did not
prove fatal. Does that seem like small
pox ? The learned Drs. say It Is a
disease called Impetigo. One Dr.
quarantined five houses, but one of them
he quarantined while the Inmates were
all out for berries but a little girl 8
years old, and he took the liberty to
vaccinate hor. The Doctor never went
back to the house afterward. After
the quarantine had been up for two
weeks the family took it down them
selves. It stands to reason that it is not
small-pox or there would have been
some deaths. The patient Is sick for
two or three days and sometimes have
a fever, but Just as soon as be or she
begins to break out the fever leaves.
Some do not go to bed at all. The
disease lasts from seven to fourteen
days. Some of the women did wash
ings just when tboy were broke out the
worst, so you readers see that it Is not
as dangerous as the papers state. It Is
just like any disease, it attacks some
worse than others.
There are no new cases in town but
some people must talk just the same.
Anyone that ever saw small-pox would
know the difference between this and
small-pox. Observer.

A Borough's Right.
An Important decision was rendered
by Judge Groer at Butler last week.
The case was that of Butler borough vs.
John Haglns. The dofondant in the,
oaso represented an out-of-town grocery
firm and sold to Butler people on
orders, delivering tho goods to the pur
chasers. Information was made against
him by the borough authorities and he
was fined for selling without a llconse.
He appealed from the decision of the
burgess and the case was heard in court
and decision was made in favor of the
borough. Tho case was an exceedingly
