When you are Inclined to be puffed
up with your own Importance, or when
the queer decrees of fate soom to sond
many unmerited misfortunes upon you,
Just stop to eonfllder the immensity of
this world-home of ours, of the millions
upon millions that have como and will
yet come, and reflect that you are only
one atom of the mass of humanity, and
surely have neither such virtue nor vice
as that you should ho singled out for
supernatural favors or afflictions.
In speaking of the Republican camli
dates for Congress in the 27th district,
composed of Jefferson. Armstrong. Tn
diana and Clarion counties, the Kittan
nine Ttmtn says: "As vet no Arm
strong county man seems to have amilr-
atlon In that direction, although this
county Is entitled to the nomination."
Jefferson is the largest county in the
district, and Armstrong and Indiana
counties have both had two terms in
Congress since Jefferson county has
been given the nomination. Just how
a paper can honestly claim that Arm
strong county is entitled to t'.ie notnina
tion Is more than we can understand.
Jefferson county can justly claim to be
entitled to the nomination next vear
and we don't believe there is any doubt
out that she will get It, and that Hon.
W. O. Smith will be the nominee from
this county. He Is entitled to the
nomination without opposition.
There appears to be varied opinions
among ministers of the gospel In the
cities about the propriety of 'men wear
ing shirt waists in church without nnnta.
Some ministers tolerate the wearing of
shirtwaists while othors donounce Jt
bitterly. It Is our opinion thut people
should be permitted to go to church or
any other place dressed with a view to
comfort. In winter some churches are
so cold that men are compelled to sit
with their overcoats on, and in the
sweltering summer they should be per
mltted to sit in their shirt lnevn
There are many people who stay away
from church In Bummer on account of
the heat, and It seoms that ministers
, ought to be glad to welcome anvone
with coats or without coats, Just so they
coum De induced to attend the services
We believe our pastors In Punxsutaw.
ney are endowed with good sense enough
to be "ministers of comfort" and that
none will fool offended if a man chooses
to sit In church with his coat and vest
off. PunxBiitawney Nev.
