Sunday afternoon, July 20th, in tho Ser-
lee iJulldlng, it was arrangod to hold
1 great carnival dav at the Pan-Ameri
can on which unprecedented revelrr
shall reign from morning until mid
night.
Noother Exposition has ever attempt
ed or dared to attcmnt anvthlnir of the
kind. It will bo tho greatest gala event
history of exhibitions has recorded.
Compared with it a oombinntion of the
Mnrdl Gras, the rtmo festivals of South
ern California, tho water foteof Venice,
the winter carnival on the Nava. the
confetti days at Naples, tho martial
roasts of the Empire of Roma and thn
Orlontal fetes on the Bosphorus, will
barely admit of comparison.
. . PLANS OP UKANDEUR.
According to tho olans oromulcatcd.
this day at the Rainbow City will sur
pass in every respect of grandeur, im
mensity and unique boautv anv of tho
great festivals famous In modern or an
cient history. Tho modern rlav access
ories of oloctrloity, transportation facil
ities and mechanical ingenuity, togeth
er with a resolve to spare no expense
makes this possible.
THIS CARNIVAL OK ALL NATIONS WILL
HE HELD ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 3d.
Not less than $100,000 will be snent
on tho project, and the value of tho sor-
vioes contributed by tho Midwav con
cessionaires and others will actually
make the affair a grand quarter of a
million dollar production, as the theatri
cal press agent would say.
THE REVELS HEGIN.
At 10:30 o'clock in tho mornlncr the
revels will begin with a pageant of all
nations, In which all the Midway at
tractions and a host of outsldo pooplo
will participate. This line will wind
about the grounds, a splendid, caval
cade of costume and color, and with tho .
blare of trumpets, well heralded the
opening.
At 11:30 there will bo a water ear nival.
all sorts of gaily bodockod craft laden
with oosturaod morrymakors. to fill tho
lagoons and canals. In this event it Is
Intended to outdo tho famous water
fotes of Venice.
At high noon a man will make a sen .
sational high dive from the summit of
the Electric Tower into a deep dredged
portion of the grand canal.
In tho afternoon tho cavotv will ba
confined chiefly to the big Stadium, tho
seating capacity of which Is to be In
creased. For several hours an immense-
modorn day clrous will prevail; also a
Wild West Show with all tho excite
ment of sham Indian ficrhts and the
startling horsemanship of vaquero red
man and cow punchor. Several uniouo
features have been doclded upon beside
the regular gamut of bareback riding,"
tumbling and high wire work. A
handicap race between an automobile,
a camel, an elephant, a horse and a bi
cycle has already boon arranged; also a
foot raco between representatives of
evory race at tho Pan-American; a
norse race to bring out the riding su- .
periority between an Arab, a Mexican.
an Indian, a Filipino and an American
cow boy, and a purse race between a
Mexican peon on a burro and an Esqui
mau in a sled drawn by a dog team. A
cakewalk of all nations will furnish
amusement of lighter vein.
SPECTACULAR BALLETS.
In the evening, aside from DvroUieh-
nlcs which will go up continuously from
various points about the grounds, spec
tacular ballets and dances by the women
of all nations will take place in the ba
sin of the Court of Fountains. A nlat-
form will be erected awash with the
surface of the water, and this, together
with special electrical and calcium ef
fects, will afford a sight of beauty never
before witnessed. All day there will
be revels along tho Midway which will
culminate with a parade of the beauties
of all nations at night.
Military organizations will partici
pate, part of which will be in srjeclal
costume in representation of the coro
nation ceremonies of feudal days, and
the triumphal marches of the armies of
ancients.
The object of this most unusual spe
cial day Is to create a furor of Pan-American
enthusiasm throughout the coun
try and secure groat dally attendance
the remainder ol the Exposition season.
