TeR-jjardori, a Cumber borlnnd PivRbytorian ministor who preaches at Kloanora, Anita and several other places, haa rrcolved a diploma from the Wayncsbnrir Collosre confer ring on him "the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. Dr. Teagardon is an able minister and a hard worker. We are surprised that a man of his ability has not been called to some city church. It is a sure thing that there are men oc cupying pulpits in city churches at large salnries that are not able to preach as .fine sermons as Dr. Teagarden preaches to his country congregations every Sunday. We don't mention this bccauHe we think a country congrega tion is not entitlnd to hear good ser mons preached nor that they can not appreciate a good sormon, but a large salary and a fine church to preach in is a big inducement for mlnlHters to seek such appointments. Ministers are only human, and somo of them extremely so. Dr. Teagarden is beloved by his various congregations, and so far as we know ho is perfectly contented and happy, and no doubt enjoys life much better among tho loving and kind hearted people of tho country than he would In some city church where ho Is likely to find more style than religion.
