Now that tho matter of Clarion coun ty building a poor house has been set tled by a largo majority of the voters, a matter that wo roost heartily approve of, the next question is the selection of . a site Biiitablo and the erection of the building. The erection of a poor house, as we are Informed in the matter, does away with a township poor tax but makes a general county poor tax that shall not exceod 10 mills ou the dollar. The commissioners are authorized to issue bonds, if necessary, for the erection of the poor bouse, the bonds in denomina tion to be not less than 8100, which must be sold at par and they will not be subject to a state tax." The county commissioners, and their successors, shall have control of the poor bouse aud .provide everything necessary for the maintenance of the same. When the buildings are completed the com missioners shall notify the poor over seers by publication that they are ready to accommodate the poor and the poor overseers shall remove all those in tbelr charge and deliver them to the super intendent or director of the poor bouse. The oommlsloners shall elect on the first Monday of January of each year, a superintendent of the borne and grounds and physician and surgeon, and shall fix all salaries for assistants who shall be subject to removal by the commis sioners. ' The commissioners shall visit the poor bouse once a month and hall hear all complaint that may be made. -Clarion Republican. All communities have these queer animals resident therein, and while their presence cannot possibly be con ducive of good they do little harm be cause the wholo world recognizes their Insanity and generally leaves them to bother none but themselves. Thero Is.however, another class who think because some little misfortune has come their way recently that they must not l)c expected to give thanks this year.
