in embroidered batiste, made up over a sky
blue glace taffeta, the batiste being of a
lighter shade. The guipure collarette and
cuffs are in salt gray. Yon will note bow

there, is a Watteau In gaufred pleating.
The sleevee are alto in gaufred pleating.
Tie ribbon used is in a light green velvet
Borne of the combinations of mauve and
cream are delightful. For instance, an
exquisite cream muslin printed with mauve

The activity in gold mining In and about
Dahionega, Ga., noted in my last communi
eation, still c.mtimiet. the excitement
wems to be steadily Increasing. and new dis
coveries of ore, that will pay handsomely
under the new processes now bring intro
duced, are of almost dnllv occurrence. Sev
eral new mills are already contracted for,
some are now In process of erection, anil
niany of the older ones are either now
being or about to be remodeled.

and the era of intelligent ami systematic
mining, having in view the treatment In the

liorlron is bright with the dawn of perma
nent days of prosj-erity in the gold fields of
Oeorgia. Underground work is being vig
orously rushed at a number of points on the
Ureat Calhoun lead, anil miners who have
tor years been m ratchin the surface, and
talked with the meagre returns of xt to 5
per ton from tho mixed mats of
material they have been accustomed
lo handle with water, are surprised
as well as delighted to find that the thin and
scattered quarts veins or stringers ot the
surface, gradually and almost invariably
come together as depth Is attained, and (orm
true reels of gold bearing quartE from two
to five feet in width and carrying in tbe
deeper works the same amount of gold that
at the surface was distributed uneqnally
throughout tbe whole mass of matter sixty
or 100 feet iu width.

opened and operated upon the modern sys
tem. The Murry mill is nearly completed
and will soon be reducing r.ch ore Irom the
lower levels. The Bertha mine, three
miles from Uahlonegt, on the famous Cal
houn lead, is preparing to bagln the erection
of a twenty-ton mill, lully equipped with
every gold saving appliance, and to run up
on the i.est western plan, provilei with nn
assay office, with an experienced miner in
charge, who will know every day what the
ore to be treated should produce, and will
