church, of Whito Mills, came out
last Sunday night to show their ap
preciation of tho cxcollont work
done by Rov. Robort E. D. Gardner,
who was called to Plains, Pa. Fath
er Gardner had been in Hawloy for
the past fifteen months, and worked
his wny Into tho hearts of tho peo
ple. Fathor IJurko delivered the
opening address, and praised Father
Gardner for his hard work as a
young priest, and expressed tho good
wishes of tho congregation for his
future. He then presented Fathor
Gardner with a check for $300, giv
en by tho peoplo of tho congrega
tion as a token of their esteem. In
accenting tho gift Father Gardnor
was so overcome with emotion that
ho found difficulty In expressing
his thanks and appreciation. Fath
er Gardner left hero on Monday.
Georgo Murray returned homo last
Wednesday with his mother, wno
went to Swarthmore when sho re
ceived word that ho was stricken
with an nttack of appendicitis.
