from Thompson, is caring for him.

tain tho Ladies' Aid of the M. E.
church on Thursday next.
Miss Lyla Hine has been appoint
ed fourth vice-president of tho Ep
worth League.
Hev. Harkness, of Ariel, was a
business caller In town this week.

Leroy, the little son of Mr. and
Mrs. Milton Rhone, is very ill with
pneumonia.

ing and was a very old lady, sho be

Frank Fischer was caught by -fall
ing roof in the Stillwater mines at
12:30 p. ra. Tuesday and Instantly
killed. Tho remains were taken to
Connelly's undertaking rooms to be
prepared for burial. The deceased
was a native of Austria and had re
sided in Forest City for a number of
years. He was about thirty years of

Robert Spangenberg has been suf
fering from n severe attack of sciatic
rheumatism but is now much im
proved. Mrs. H. C. Pelton, who has been
suffering from a severe cold, Is very
much better.
Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Nicholson left
on Monday for an extended visit
at Sellersville, Philadelphia and
other points.
Mr. and Mrs. George Lawrence,
Scranton, visited relatives here dur
ing the Thanksgiving Bcason.

On the evening of Dec. 4th tho
High school gymnasium at Damascus
was tho scene of a lively and Inter
esting game of basket ball played

Tyler Hill Stars. The line-up was

Miss Katherlne Gumble, of Mil
ford, Pa., Is making extended visits
with Conrad Gumble and family.
Mrs. Esther Townsend, of Middle
town, N. Y., is visiting with relatives
and friends in Paupack and vicinity.
Miss Rose Gumble returned to her
home in Honesdale Monday.
A party was held at tho home of
Conrad Gumble in honor of their
guests. All present reported a fine
time.
Miss Blanche Fowler has secured
employment in the Reader Hotel at
Hawley and started upon her new
duties Monday.
Henry Vetterleln left Saturday,
Nov. 30, for State College, where he
will take up a course of study In
tho science of agriculture.
Mrs. Isaac Ludwig and daughter,
Ruth, of Equinunk, are visiting the
former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eri

Mrs. Augusta Bennett spent Sun
