mission Is holding up the proposition
of erecting a dam at Wllsonville for

STRANGER GIVES BOY MONEY

AND ATTENDED SCHOOL.
Milton Buchanan, eight-year-old
son of Mr. and Mrs. William Buch
anan, while on his way to school
Wednesday was mot by a stranger
who asked him If ho wero a good boy
and attended school every day. Ho
replied that he was, wheroupon the
stranger gavo him a handful of
coins.
Milton took tho old money to
school and exclaimed to his teacher,
Miss Mattio Gillow, "See all the mon
ey I got." She asked him If the
money was good and he replied,
"Naw, just a lot of old coins." Miss
Glllon examined them and found
they wero of real value and con
tained a number of old pieces of
money.
The collection consisted of Ameri
can, English, German and French
monies. The oldest piece bore the
date of 1798 and tho words, "Del
Gratia Carolus 1111." Others -were an
Irish Bank Token, 1S13; American
half dollar of 1S20; American cop
per half-cent, 1804. This antique
collection is now tin the possession of
Professor Oday.
Mrs. Peter Brled Passed Away at
Ago of 58.
Mrs. Peter Brled, an old resident
of Honesdale, passed away In Dan
ville, Pa., whero she had boon visit
ing on Tuesday night after a short
illness. Sho will bo brought to her
homo here, 311 Terraco street, for
burial.
Mary Jano Durrlck was born in
Cherry Ridge, Wayne county, in
January, 1S58, and In 1874 site was
united In marriage to Peter Brled
and moved to Honesdalo, whero
they have slnco -made their home.
Sho was a devout member of St.
John's' Catholic church, and a good
mother to her largo family of chil
dren, four of Whom preceded her
In death.
She in survived by her bereaved
husband and eight children who aro,
Katherlne, Minnie, Raymond and
Lawrence, at home; Walter, or Les
tershire, N. Y.; Theodore, of Enid,
Oklahoma; George, of Rochester,
N. Y.; Frank, of Long Island, N. Y.
all of whom aro expected to bo
present at the funeral. Deceased Is
also survived by. one brother, Philip
Durrlck, of Cherry Ridge, and one
sister, Mrs. Thomas Core, of Jersey
City.
Tho funeral services will bo held
at St. John's Catholic church, on
Saturday morning, January 6, at
ten o ciock and will be conducted
by Rev. John O'Toole. Interment
will bo In St. Johu's cemetery at
Honesdale.

1419.

best month with 145 licenses. Tho
