A GREAT
The Citizen printed, published,
Wayne county tho largest political edition in its' history, the number being
over 12,000 copies. The result of election iaithe. result, of, clean politics,
which was advocated editorially by The Citizen. We rejoice with the can
didates in their victory, which Is the finest recorded' in many' an 'election.
One of tho reasons for this magnificent
Tho different candidates running for
er apparently under the roof of one" town, but came from various sections m
Wayne county.
Tho Citizen was optimistic throughout the entire campaign. It con
ducted It with an Idea of placing In ofllce the men most fitted for the per
formance of duties pertaining to the respective office for which the candl
date was running. Never onca did ,it stoop to low, dirty and mean poli
tics, which, we are sorry to state was advocated and distributed broad
cast by one of our icontemporarjes over Wayne's fair soil. It acted as a
boomerang and resulted in practically defeating the whole Democratic
ticket.
The Citizen, has, been highly commended upon tho stand' It took and
the manner of conducting the clean
measure, aided, materially- in electing
tions' to tho many successful candidates. The Citizen sincerely hopes
their office will be prosperous
has been so unanimously elected will
of Wayne county, who made It possible by their voto in placing him in
such a responsible position.

The Citizen has always favored expansion and therefore wo heartily
endorse tho movement Instigated by .the Greater Honesdale Board of
Trade for a bigger, better and busier Honesdale and Wayne county. The

We would like to see Wayne county
trially in the Keystone state and the conditions are good that it will
be. The building of the large dam at Wllsonvlllo, which will back up
thousands of acres of water, will be the largest body of water in the
State of Pennsylvania and will be possible of developing a tremendous
horse nower and one not enualled in this section of the country. The
alert Honesdale Board of Trade already realizes what this means and
has started a campaign of advertising that will' place Honesdale and
Wayne county upon the map. The possibilities are great and there Is no
reason why Wayne county should not be the home of several diversified ad
dltional industries whose product will go to all points, of the compass.
Outside of manufactured articles In Honesdale and vicinity, the coun
ty also deserves recognition agriculturally in that its soil is especially
adapted to raising apples. According to Government reports, Wayne
county is an Ideal place for the cultivation of this luscious fruit in that
it has tho flavor, which Is missing in

come Into Honesdale since tho borough council annexed the section in the
vicinity of West Park street. By covering a larger area Honesdale will
bo greater In strength, power and size, capable of doing more and receiving
more. The census of 1910 gave the borough about 3,000 Inhabitants, when
in reality It should be 7,000 to .000. Let's work hard and assiduously for
Greater Ilonesdale, so when tho next census Is taken Honesdale- will loom
up and be classed as a city. It can

onto a paved thoroughfare. Then success will crown our efforts and
Honesdale will be known not simply as an inland town but will rank with
Itles that havo grown large under much more adverse circumstances. All
