Miss Margaret Greene, daughter of

NECROLOGY.
Mrs. Arthur E. Childs, formerly
of Honesdale, died in Euid, Okla
homa, last Friday.

Alice S., wife of Charles R. Davey,
and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo.
Coles, died of pneumonia at l.er
homo In Oregon township. Funeral
services were held to-day (Thurs
day). Death of joiin Land Burcher.
John Land Burcher, a well-known
resident of Honesdale, died at his
home, 1717 Main street, Tuesday
evening at 7 o'clock, after being con
fined to his bed since Monday a week
ago, suffering from a severe attack
of doublo pneumonia, brought on
by the contracting of a severe cold.
'Mr. Burcher, who was aged 71
years and one day, was born In Da
mascus township, December 12,
1839, on tho old John Burcher
homestead, his mother being a Miss
Maximilian Land. He spent most of
his life In Damascus township being
extensively engaged in lumbering,
but about twelve years ago, he ru-
moved to Honesdale, where he has
resided over since, leading a retired
life. On March 19, 1805, he was
married to Miss Jane Hartwell, Da
mascus township, who died January
5, 1902. One son, William E., who
resides at 1727 East Extension
street, was born to bless their union.
On April 3, 1900, ho was married to
Miss Anna Hill, Equlnunk, who sur
vives to mourn his departure, as well
as one brother, Joseph, the only
ono left of a family of eleven chll
dren.
Funeral services will be held from
his lato residence, Thursday even
ing at 7:30 o'clock, the Rev. Will H.
Illller, pastor, of the Methodist Enis
copal church, of which the deceased
was a member, officiating. The re-
mains will bo taken to the Damas
cus Baptist church Friday where a
urlct prayer service will bo held
Friday, at 1 o'clock. Reverend

terment will bo made, with Masonic
honors, In tho church cemetery. W.
