Chlcngo, Dec. 22. Senator James K.
Jonos, chairman of tlio Democratic
national committco, looked Into party
nftalra nt lioatlquarters In the Unity
building yesterday. Iln nRaurod every
body that tlio prospects for Democratic
success next year me brighter than
they wore In 189G. Ho said only W J.
llryan would bo mentioned ns candi
date for president In the convention.
The senator would not say where or
when he thousht tho convention should
he held. He denied a story Bent from
Washington thnt ho had repudiated
the system of collecting monoy for n
campaign fund and had discharged
Itlchnrd S. Smylor, one of the collec
tors.
The system of collecting money,"
ho continued, ' was Inaugurated by me.
It has been a success nnd is worthy of
the support of all Democrats.' There
are no differences between ex-Gov
ernor Stone and myself and never have
been. I approve all he did while I was
In Europe."
Ihe senator also said that the se
lection of Sam B. Cook for manager of
the ways and moans bureau was made
at his request. Ifo approved J. C. John
son's work as rhalrman of the execu
tive commlttpo. With reference to
next year's contest the senator said:
No doubt the convention will reafllrm
tho Chicago platform. It will declare
against Imperialism and In favor of
regulating trusts. I think, too, that
It will condemn the efforts, which
hnve become too common, to control
elections by tho uso of money. In my
opinion tho passage of the bill estab
lishing the gold standard will aid us
greatly."
The senator said he never saw such
a diversity ot opinion as to where the
nominee for vice president should
come from.
Regarding the currency bill Senator
Jones said:
'I think the adoption of a gold
standard bill by the present congress
will have an enormous effect In shap
ing the money Issue. It s a declara
tion on the part of the Republican
party, for which It will have to answer.
A gold bill, if adopted by senates ana
there Is no doubt In my mind that the
present bill substantially will be ac
cepted by the senate will force the
Republicans to explain what Is on Its
face a stroke of treason against the
pronouncement of tho St. Louis plat
form." Tho senator Tlgures thnt tho currency
hill could command 60 nnd possibly 52
votes In the sennto.

It Is also believed that no governor

Women as Well as Men
Are Made Miserable by
Kidney Trouble,'
Kidney trouble preys upon the mind, dis

disappear when the kid

or diseased.
Kidney trouble has
become so prevalent
that it is not uncommon
for a child to be born
afflicted with weak kid
neys. If the child urin
ates too often. II the
urine scalds the flesh or if, when the child
reaches an age when It should be able to
control the passage, It Is yet afflicted with
bed-wetting, depend upon It, the cause of
the difficulty Is kidney trouble, and the first
tep should be towards the treatment of
these important organs. This unpleawm
trouble Is due to a diseased condition of tho
kidneys and bladder and not to a habit aa
most people suppose.
Women as well as men are made mis
erable with kidney and bladder trouble,
and both need the same great remedy.
