A startling incident of wliioh Mr. John
Oliver of Philadelphia, was the siikjcet, is
narrated by him as follows : "I was in a most

Deaths and Fiiuernls,
David Itoinhold, Sr., the oldest resident of
TaniaiMja, died at his homo on Monday night
from general infirmities. Deceased was In
his Wtli yea 1 and up to a few mouths ago was
comparatively halo and hearty. Uo is sur
vived by his wifo, who is 84 years old, and
four children. Funeral Friday aftornoon.
Another aged resident of Tamnqua, Mrs.
Uatharino Schictram, died Monday evcuine,
in lier 72d year, from general infirmities.
Charles Maybcrry, of Schuylkill Ilavon,
who is well known throughout the county,
died at liis homo yesterday morning. Ho
had sufTorcd for a number of years from a
complication of diseases. Ho is survived by
a wife and several children.
The funeral of tho lato Lawrence Uronnan

brated in St. Canicus church, iu Mahauoy
City, and Interment made in the parish
cemetery.
Ituth, daughter of William Barnhart. of
Newberry, was buried at Matanoy City to
day. Tho child was three years aud eight
months old. alio died last Monday, after
sulrcrlng four days from diphtheria.
Edward Ilrady, aged 43 years, died at his
I101110 in Forrestvillo last evening. Ho was a
well known mine workerand a brother of M.
J. Brady. Ho leaves a widow aud soven
children. Ilrady had been injured whilo
working at Phoenix Park colliory sometime
ago and nover entirely recovered.
