of General Harrison Lodge No. 251, Kuights
of Pythias, last evening. A phonograph
entertainment by Mr. Wilbur J. Lewis was
very much enjoyed.
A. T. Jones, of Pottsville, has located in
Philadelphia. He has secured a lucrative
position in the large clothing store of E. O.
Thompson's Sous, on Chestnut street. Mr.
Jones formerly conducted a store at Shcnan
doah.

Iteynultls to ba fittingly Observed.
Thirty-sis years ago on July 1st, Maj
Gen'l John V. Reynolds fell mortally
wounded at Gettysburg gallantly leading his
troops during the first day of the battle that
decided the great civil war, tuid on tbe an
niversary this year a fine equestrian statue
of that noble officer will be unveiled with
appropriate ceremonies. The Statue, a
beautiful piece of work, somewhat similnr to
those of Generals Meade and Hancock, is
situated on the battlefield about a quarter
uille north of the spot where Gen'l lteynolds
was wounded, and is the design and work of
H. K. Rush-Brown. The statue will bo un
veiled 2 p. m. July 1st by Clias. P. Roynolds,
a grand nephew of the famous General.
General Gobln will transfer the statue to tho
state, and it will bo received by Governor
Stone. Colonel Huidokoper is to dellvor the
oration.

Maggie Rarrasparas, of West Mahanoy
township, against whom truo bllli were
found for selling liquor on Sunday and with
out a license, was called for trial this morn
ing. She pleaded guilty to both charges,
Sentence was deforred uutil uoxt Saturday to
allow her time to close her private atralrs,
Her husband is now iu jail on practically tho
same charges. This ends a long series of
suits in tho criminal courts iu which these
people have figured as defendants and prose'
cutors. The charges against Maggio were
made by Martin Murray.
Fire was discovered in tho large store of
William Lecher, at Fislibacb, on tbe out
skirts of Pottsville, at about two o'clock this
afternoon. Tho flames made such rapid
headway that a second alarm was sounded.

He expects to be in New York again
on Saturday. He admitted that he had
been offered the presidency of the
Washington Tructlon and niectric
company, but declared he had not yet
given the proposition any serious con

provided he can arrange matters as to
make an acceptance desirable.
Speedy Itetrular l'ausenser Trains.
Chicago, June 21. A deep cut in tho
time of passenger trains between Chi
cago and New York will be made by
the Lake Shore and New York Cen
tral next Sunday.' The run will be
covered in ust 24 hours, and a cor
responding eaatbound Hyer will go
through in the same time. These
trains will be only one-half an hour
slower than the 24 hours limited trains
operated by the Lake Shore and Penn
sylvania roada, and on which an extra
fare ot $4 is charged.
