Coglv "Onk hundred dollars u week" is expensive nowspnper correspondonce for politicians. Considkhahlk building is going on in Shenandoah at this time, lint that is nothing unusual at tills time of the year. Tiik arrests in the counterfeit cases is extending to "enormous propor tious." Some pretty big fish have been caught. Nkxt week's criminal court prom ises to be a busy onp. In order to dispose of all the cases it is hinted that a special session may be neces sary. Tub reformers in New York city are fighting among themselves. It is the general belief that Mr. Park Hurst is rapiiliy passing out or tne sight of men. Tiik Herald's editorial opiulons are not influenced by mercenary con slderations. In other words, it is not a boodle organ, but is a Republican newspaper Whoso opinions are not purchasable. Tint leaders of the two Republican parties in this state, it is said, will begin another bitter warfare after Dewey Day. If their slaughter was confined to themselves, the party would be the gainer. 1?f?KDemocratB had. seven out of the eight representatives in the legis lature from this county. The seven members secured the enactment of but one measure, the election of borough Supervisors by direct vote. Tiiit Republican primaries in Brad ford county will be held next Satur day, and therd will be a fight between the Quay and anti-Quay factions for delegates to the state convention. Each faction has a ticket in the field. Tub retirement of Speaker Reed from public life is to be regretted, es pecially so from a Republican stand point. He is great in all the elements that comprise leadership. How the Republicans are going to get along without him is a problem of great seriousness. His retirement, how ever, will be a relief to the Demo! crats. Thomas J. Jovok, the Mahanoy Oity editor, who was committed to thefrEostern Penitentiary on the charge of perjury by one John J. Coyle, was certainly deserving of clemency, in the light of recent de velopments at Harrisburg. Under these- .circumstances, Joyce has al ready served too long, and his pardon would have been the proper thing, Tiik members or the House com mil lee to prosecute the bribery caaes met in Philadelphia this week to dis cuss ways and means of carrying on the work. A well known Harrisburg lawyer has been engaged to assist in the prosecution. It is likely these cases will be called at the next ses sion of the Dauphin county court, which begins on the second Monday in June. The Business Men's League will aid the prosecution financially. Wk can hardly credit the statement that Muj. Finney deserted Quay. We'd rather believe that the Sub Treasurer was "indUpoied." But might not the doughty Major inquire a little on his own hook and ask where was the "only straight-out Demo cratic editor of Schuylkill county" during those trying times when loyal Democrats stood shoulder toshoulder for George A. Jenks? And might he not inqui'e further way Quay re ceived newspaper support from that quarter, and '.'who paid the freight" at Harrisburg f These are pertinent questions when party regularity is under discussion, and we would sug gest to Major Finney that he move for the appointment of a eommltte of inquiry. Brazilian Balm is such a rem edy , Tens of thousands have found that it Is the only thing that would cure Ca tarrh nnd Asthma. For IS yrs. it has nev er failed inaslnglc ise to cure Asthma, and its record has been as wonderful in Catarrh. Cases that had, to all appearan ces, run into Consumption, or where the nostrilswerc entirely stopped uporwherc the poisonous pus had eaten holes into the throat an inch deep, or where the 6tomach had become ulcerated nnd raw from swallowing the germ-laden matter, were nil permanently cured. Such a rec ord, unknown to any other remedy, just ly entitles the Brazilian Balm to the first place in the regard of the American peo ple. There are 20,000,000 Catarrh victims and countless Asthma sufferers in this country, all of whom can be cured 'with BrazilimBalm.
