of the inside foreman at the Pennsylvania
colliery, near Jit. Carinel, is reported to he
dying at her former homo In Mahanoy
City, from tho ell'ects of a needle
winch penetrated her thumb. The
accident occurred a few days ago and
was considered of such a trivial character
that she started on u visit to fi lends at
Mahanoy City. The thumb bee.m to
swell and irritate her to such an ox
tent that it was deemed necessary to poultice
it to draw out the impuiitics. Tho needle

ures were resorted to but still tho hand

No. I, situated in West Mahanoy township,
said county, and owned and operated by the
company, and worked until JulylB, lsnv
At the time of employment the company,
through James Heatou, the mine boss, veih-
ally agreed to jy the plalntill's 75 cents for
each mine enr of coal cut by them in the
bieast, aniUtho company did pay the price up
to July IS, lHtcj.
On that day the plalntlfft lmd cut, col
lectid and prepaied in tho breast n large
ipianllty of coal, aggregating 1.800 mm, and
they weio iufornied by Aline l'mcniaii
II Niton that they would not be paid fur it at
the stipulated price, but that they would be
allowed each day after July 12, so mm Ii
of the coal drawn from each breast daily as
would bring to the plaintiffs wages averaging
f-2.RH per day. Tho plainlill's then requested
to he allowed to take out all the said cut
coal, but permission was refused.

for any portion of it. or for the labor ex
pended by them in cutting and preparing the
same. Tho plaintills demand judgment for

in default of 300 hail on a chargo of ma
licious mischief inado by Carby Kagan.
Arlusky Is tho man who twice attempted
suicide on Thursday morning by hanging,
nnd after breaking through a floor colling ou
tho second nttcmpt ran oil' to Locust inoun
tain. It was believed that the man was in
sane, nnd that ho would probably take his
life iu some secluded spot on tho mountain.
On tho night of tho same day ho returned to
town and tried to gain admittance to tho
house ho had left without hoing observed.
Tho house his an attic without fluorine and
entrance to it can bo gained through n win
dow at cither cud of the house. Arlusky
climcd up to one of the windows and
crawled in, but be went through the celling
of tho room below. The man scrambled out
of tho houso and then entered hy tho other
window, when ho again broko through the
unprotected celling. This timo ho was
caught and held ou n chaigo made by the
owner of the propel ty. Arlusky mado no
statement to his captors and tho belief that
ho Is Insane is strengthened.
