order to be ready to receive the govern
ment pay. Uy night the work was
practically completed. The rolls will be
submitted nt once and the task of pay

probably will begin this afternoon.
Of the First corps, which has been or
dered to be put In readlnes for the next
expedition, Colonel William Ulchards,
ndjutant general, said: "This corps is
about as thoroughly equipped us they

Accidentally Killed In u Cult Storo.

accident occurred here yesterday In a
store In which a sale of firearms was
taking place which resulted In the
death of! Carl J. Hersom, of Chelsea,
and serious wounds to Harry C. Ken
nlngton, of Dedham. A clerk named
Carroll Melcher was showing a revol
ver to Kennlngton on one side of the
store, when suddenly there wns a loud
report and Hersom, who was looking
at a revolver In tho rear of the store
dropped to the floor shot through the
brain. Kennlngton was wounded In the
mouth, the bullet passing out at the
back of his neck.
