This town has been chosen ns the place for
holding tho next annual convention of the
Ancient Order of Hibernians.
The grand division of tho Suns of Tem
perance will hold its annual se-siim in this
town during tho middle of next month.

The dead body of all unknown man is be
lieved to bo lying In the canal near Pottsvllle.
All his clothing was found on tho hank, and
tlio man was seen lying naked near tlio
water for houis, then wis nilsbed, and when
a seaich in tlio wateis was mado no tiacoof
the body could be found. His clothing was
searched, and the only thing fuuiid was a
match. Ho is believed to be it man who was
discharged fiom jail on Tuesday. A nioie

Obituary.
At two o'clock yesterday afternoon the
Inline of Mr. and Mrs. William P. Williams,
on North White ftreet, was Nisitoil by the
(Irlm Peaper. It summoned to its fold their
12-year-old daughter, llessio lMith. The
deceased had been failing ill health for the
past eleven months. The causo of death was
dropsy. Tho funeral will take place from
the family reside mo on Saturday afternoon
at2 o'clock. Services will be conducted in
the l'lotestant Lpiscopal church. Tlio le
maiiis will be interred in tho Odd Fellows'
cemetery .

opening of tho now Polish Unman Catholic

vicinity of tho edifice wero crowded with

Under escort of mounted representatives of
tlio several church societies, the new pastor,
Iiev. Mathislow Kopltkiswicz, lato of Phila
delphia, accompanied by Uevs. Abroinailis
and Milukis, of tlio Lithuanian church of
town, and Itov. Mntulaitis, of tlio Lithuanian
church of MlncrsviUc, proceeded to the new

Following the service sit tlio church there
was a street parade, one of tho largest seen
In the town for some time. There were
about twenty societies, or an aggregato of
about 2.00D men in lino. The music was fur
nished by four hands, tho Lithuanian of
town, Lithuanian of Mahanoy City, and tho
Tut key l!uu and St. Nicholas bands. The
rotito of tho parado was out Jardln street to
Oak, to Whito, to Ctmtro, to limerick, to
Coal, to Main, to Centre, to Chestnut, to
Cherry, and thenco to. Jardin street, where
the societies wore dismissed and tho ceir
