Tiik right of a newspaper to criti cise a Judge who happens to be a candidate for re-election has been questioned by a Wisconsin Judge, who actually undertook to pmii.h the editor for contempt. The case was appealed to the Supreme Court of the state, and it is hardly necessary to state that the Judge was sat upon. A public official or candidate for oflloe is supposed to be subject to newspaper criticism, within certain lines, but to Judge from the number of libel suits recently some of these oillce-liolders have an idea that they are "speoial pets" and beyond the pale of just criticism. They will know better, in the near future. Adulterated Flour. One of the first exploits of the newly organized uiucooe Trust, says the Philadelphia Uncord, is to send broadcast the following ciroular to millers, grocers and other dealers in wheat Hour: "Gentlemen We to-day mail you a sample of corn starch winon we woiiim iikh you to ex amine closely. Wu have uiode many expert. meiits, and find that about 10 per cent, can be substituted with Hour, to its benefit, we will be pleased to ouote prices uud terms, your station, on bearing from yon." It is said that 30 pounds of corn starch can be added to a barrel of wheat Hour with the effect of improv ing its color ami giving it greater smoothness. Ordinarily consumers have no means of detecting the fraud. The adulterated article is less wholesome and when it has been knowingly sold for pure (lour a fraud is practiced upon the purchaser. Corn-starch flour can be marketed at a considerably lower price than the pure article and is likely to hurt the reputation of our Hour in amtside markets if such adulteration should become common. A law ought to lie devised to reach the Glucose Trust which ia making an underhanded and luisohieuous war upon the jiubliu dtojnach. NOT ALWAYS UNDERSTOOD I A fact often overlooked, or not always understood, it that women suffer as much from distressing kiduey aud bladder troubles as the men. The womb is situated liack of and very clone to the bladder, and for that reason any distress, disease or inconvenience manifested in the kidneys, back, bladder or urinary passage is often.by niistake.attrlbtited to female weakness or womb trouble of some sort. The error is easily made and may be as easily avoided W setting urine asido for twenty-four hours ; a sediment or settling Is evidence that your kidneys and bladder need doctoring. If you have pain or dull aching in the back, pass water too frequently, or scanty supply, with smarting or burning, these are also convincing proofs of kidney trouble. Every sufferer from Catarrh should l:now that it is Impossible to cure the (lipase with sprays, washes, iuala tious, etc., which are universally nsed. In fact, the experience of growing worse all the while is proof that the treatment Is all wrong. Many who have been under treatment for years and wet with disappointment m fteadof benttl are willing to doubt that there is any cure for Catarrh. The trouble is that all of the treat tuent they havfe received has been mis directrd, and has not touched their trouble. Catarrh is a stubborn deep seated blood disease, and everybody should know that to simply treat the surface, that is, the local irritation, does not reach the disease. A blood remedy is needed, but it must be a good one; a remedy which goes down to the very bottom of the trouble and forces it out. S.S.S. (Swift's Specific) is the only one which can have the slightest effect upon Catarrh, for it is the only one which goes to the seat of the disease, and per manently gets rid of it. This is the only reasonable way to treat Catarrh. Sir. B. P. McAllister, of Harrodsburg, Ky., had Catarrh for years. He writes: "I could see no improvement what ever, though I was constantly treated with sprays and washes, and different inhaling remedies in fact, I could feel that each winter I was worse than the year previous. "Finally it was brought to my notice that Catarrh was a blood disease, and after thinking over the matter, I saw it was unreasonable to expect to be cured by remedies which, only reached the surface. I then decided to try S. S. S., and the results were gratifying, for after a few bottles were used, I noticed a perceptible improvement. Continu ing to take the remedy, the disease was forced out of my system, and a com plete aud permanent cure was the result. I advise all who have this dreadful disease to abandon their local treatment, which has never doue them any good, and take S.S.S. (Swift's Spe cific), a remedy which can reach the disease and cure it." To continue the wrong treatment for Catarrh is to contiuue to suffer. Swift's Specific never fails to cure even the most aggravated cases. It is a real blood remedy, and cures Catarrh, Rheumatism, Contagious Blood Poison, Eczema, Cancer, Scrofula, and all other blood diseases. S. S.
