Some now feat ures will likely bo Introduced Into the mining strucsle within the next two days, but the lenders are maintaining the greatest Beereoy regarding their movements. It Is believed they contem plate calling upon the railway or ganizations for assistance. Secretary Wnrner gave out the Information yes terday that a meeting of railway em ployes was held here on Sunday and the situation of the miners' strike thoroughly discussed. Resolutions were adopted pledging support to the strik ers, and each member wan assessed $2 for the strike fund. Mr. Wurner re fused to divulge the name of tho rail road employing the mon, stating that it might lead to In Investigation and the discharge of the men. From another source It was reported to be a tneotlng of the conductors and brakemen of the roads centering In Pittsburg. It was claimed that the action taken was at tho suggestion of the national officials of tho Hallway Trainmen's union. Active work has been commenced In the coke region, and efforts will be made to bring out all the men at mines where the products are being shipped to Pittsburg. Ex-National Vice President Cameron Miller, of the United Mine Workers, left yesterday morning for the coke region and ad dressed a mass meeting of men em ployed at the Smock and Boyd mines. A mass meeting Is scheduled to be held at Unlontown this afternoon, which will be addressed by Messrs. Milter and Warner. Cameron Miller and Secretary Warner visited Turtle Creek Sunday to have a talk with the miners em ployed by the New York and Cleveland Gas Coal company. They were served with an injunction restraining them from Interfering with the miners. The mines at Leechburg, on the West Penn railroad, have been closed. The diggers had not been asked to Join in the movement, but Cameron Miller communicated with them, and they agreed to lay down their tools. General John Little, of the Ohio state board of arbitration, and W. P. DeArmltt, of the New York and Cleve land Gas Coal company, are s,tlll in the oast endeavorlg to secure the signa tures of the eastern coal operators to the uniformity agreement. Thoy are expected to return today. It Is an nounced that a meeting of the arbitra tion commission will be held here to morrow. The striking miners from Brldge vllle, who visited the Allison, Boone and Enterprise mines yesterday for the purpose of Inducing the men at work to come out, dispersed In tho after noon, having attained their object without trouble. Immediately upon re ceipt of the news of the proposed raid, the mine owners' at these pits ordered a suspension until the excitement should die out. In the afternoon the strikers held a meeting, at which speeches were made to the effect that if the men did not remain out the strikers would return 1,000 strong, and, Instead of bringing musical Instru ments, they would bring guns. A com mittee was appointed to guard the mines and report In case the men re turned to work. Some of the men are afraid to go In again, as they say the strikers threatened violence, and said they would burn the cars and tipples. Everything Is quiet. Tho strikers now say suspension In the Pan Handle dis trict is absolute, but the operators of the Boone and Allison mlnes'jay their men are not on strike and that their mines were closed down by their orders to prevent any possible conflict. Notwithstanding the present quiet, the operators express themselves as being alarmed over tho situation, and have doubled their force of deputies at the mines. The trainmen who are to take the coal from the Allison mine have been armed with Winchesters. Eugene V. Debs addressed the entire male population of Falrmount, W. Vo., last night, and about 200 miners from the neighboring collieries. The meet ing was a very enthusiastic one, and he waB frequently applauded by the miners. Yesterday at Monongah he also held a meeting, and about 300 of the 050 strikers at that mine were In attendance. He organized a branch of tho U. M. W. of A., with 200 members, and they will hereafter hold meetings at 10 o'clock every morning. Tonight Debs speaks at ItlversvlUe and the next evening at Watson, John Orlflin. ot Zanesville, 0., gays : '"I never lived a day for thirty years Without aufleriiiK agony, until a box of De Witt's Witch Hazel Halve cured my piles." They waste no energy in Idle talk; they use it in thinking ami doing. And whatever they do they do with their might. Tlieyare content with nothing short of the essence nnd principle of tho things thoy investigate. They take pains, and are patient. And thus tho doors of many straugo truths open to them. In this way they discovered what may almost be called the unity of disease. A venerable Shaker says of it : "It Is said that ono man's meat is another man's poison. That is but half tho truth. Any man's meat is any man's poison, under certain rotiditions. If the grain never got further than the hopper we should never have bread; nnd if bread nover get further than the stomach we should never havo strength. When tho stomach is torpid, helpless and Inflamed tho food lies ill It nnd rots. This fermen tation produces poisons which may, nnd often do, disorder every othor organ nnd function of tho body. This is indigestion or dyspepsia, with many symptoms nnd disguises. Curo it and you will cure nine- tenths of your complaints." These words wore uttorod mnuy years ago. Since then thoy hnvo found a remedy, now known as the Shaker Digestive cordial. It Is mado from medicinal plants cultivated by them. It is a food and digests other foods. Taken while eating it rests tho stomach nnd nourishes tho system. Tho pain nnd dis tresses of dyspepsia disappear before It. It provents fermentation nnd mon restores full powor to tho digestion. It succeeds in the worst cases, It is worthy tho name of tho people whoso name It bears. Any drug gist will sell you a trial bottlo for ten cents, pei7i?a. Railroad. 8CHUYKILL DIVISION. July 1, 1897.
