vania, found a box of dynamite caps
yesterday and pounded them with n
hammer. Ills lower Jaw was blown off
and part of his tongue was torn away.
He Is In a critical condition and will
not live.

Non-suit wore ordered at Pottsville this
mottling in the cases of Thomas, Moron and
George lllnklo and Frank lllllick, of tou n,
for labor claims against Smith & Campion,
contractors of tojvn. The work was done
on the Mahnnoy City Water Company's. new
dam. Tho grounds of the non-suit were
that the contracts for tho work were made
on Sunday and that the contracts were uover
executed because tho claimants had not
worked at the dam at all.

Several days ago representatives of a foreign
Healthy syndicate, who are visiting all the
towns of the state, introducing a block sys
tem of electric lighting, circulated among
tho Pottsville merchauts in tho block bounded
by Norwegian, Second and Kallroad streets
and agreed to provide a plant at their own
cost and furnish lights to consumers for oue
ihird less than tho original prices of the
Edison company, which is almost half the
mto since the company raised its pricos. A
rijht of way has becnasked forfrom Council.

Odd Fellows Orphan Home.
Four children, two from Uenov.t and two
from Jersey Shore, will bo admitted to the
Odd Fellows' Orphan Homo, near Sunbury,
this week. Sunbury and Shamokln both
have several who will bo sent to the homo in
tho near future. Tho homo is now comfort
ably arranged. A number of bed rooms have
been furnished by theKebckah Lodges of the
I. O. O. F. in grand stylo. The property is
paid for and many improvements are being
made to beautify tho home. Twenty
six counties in Central Pennsylvania com
pose) tho district, with a membership of
our twenty-six thousand. Every member
is required to pay (o the heme as
it membership feo. Over one hundred lodges
hare luiid their assessment and are members
of the same and befoie very long all the
lodges will join. Tho annual por capita tax
of 23 cents per member, which is paid by all
lodges for the maintenance of tho home,
with tho aid of produce from the farm, will
give sufficient revenue to carry on the home
and cnlargo it from time to timo as room is
needed. Lodge 591, of town, is a memlier,
aud every Odd Fellow should interest him
self enough to have his lodge join (ho homo.

Washington Camp No. 125, P. O. S. of A.,
of Girardville, has passed a resolution to at
tend the 50th anniversary of the order,
which will be hold at Heading ou August
20th. As an inducement to have a large
crowd in attendance from there, tho camp
