vestigating Committee were In Session here
again yesterday. During the day many
miners testified to their condition, but fur
every man wntise testimony in any nay re
flected upon the company, one was ottered in
rebuttal. The testimony developed but little
of Interest to the people, or that will assist
the committee in offciing a remedy for tho
depi eased condition of the coal trade. The
majority of the witnesses testified that they
were satisfied with their condition, and some
of them thought company stores benetlclrto
the miners under some circumstances

The Tunnel Tupped.

a contract from Eckley H. Cose to drive a
tunnel at Old Buck Mountain colliery, iu
order to drain the large amount of water
which practically made it impossible to mine
thousands of tons of coal there, and it was
completed yesterday. The tunnel is 10x13
feet in .diameter and 1100 feet In length, aud
carries otr the water of three basins. When
tapped yesterday the heavy flow of water
can led destruction with it.
