Warden Weylor that he had in April of
last year, whllo floolng from Baltimore of
ficers, killed and robbed un old man in
Altoona, Pa. Mr. Woylcr endeavored to
get details of tho crlmo, but tho Incoherent
talk of tho prisoner led him to believe that
Whltnoy was domontod.
Tho fatal leap on Saturday of tho pris
oner caused tho YVurdou to cross-quostion
Williams, and tho latter confessed yoster
day that Whitney had on April 5 mur
dercil Honry Uonnecka. Eleven thousand
dollars was secured, which Williams as
serts was burled by himself and Whitney.
It is lcarnod that there was such a man
murdered in Altoona at the tlmo men
tioned, and that a man named Wilson was
arrested and convicted of tho crlmo on
mnlnly circumstantial ovldenco, nnd is
now awaiting tho death senteuco In Al
toona jail.
It has been ascertained that Whitney's
real name Is Joseph Hlldobrand and his
homo in Detroit. Six years ago, whilo
serving a senteuco for murder, ho oscaped
from tho penitentiary at Llttlo Itock, to
gether with ulno other prisoners.
