An oninion that tnnv hnvn n. linnm. nrvn
several towns in this county ha3 been handed
down by tho Supremo Court of Pennsylvania,
iu which that tribunal sustains the lower
court, in tho casoof Seno against tho Borough
of Ephrata, Lancastor couuty. Tho act of
ion auiuonzmg uorouglis to Issue bonds up
to 7 nor cent, of tho assessed riilimll
atneiidod by tho Legislature last year, aud it
sooms a lino was left out which gives tho act
of 1895 another meaning. Tho act of 187-1
mauo it. oungatory on tlio part of tho Council,
whore tlioy lwnded tho town to the limit of 7
per cent, of tho assossod valuation, to lovy a
tax of 8 per cent, of tho amount borrowed.
This mado tho taxation exceedingly
heavy in some towns, and to remody this
tho act of 1893 was passed, hut a mistake
was mado in tho wording, making it appear
that tho borough could only borrow 2 per.
ceut. of its assessed valuation, and tho
Supremo Court has sustainod tho Lancaster
Court in taking this view of it. Tho borough
of Wilmcrding voted to issuo bouds for
?3S,000 on a valuation of $1,045,000, which is
about $3,000 over tho 2 per cent. Anothor
election will havo to bo held as a result. Tho
opinion in full has not yet been published.

Lively interest is ovinced in the price of

wheels have been put on tho market and
listed at $100. Tho Crescents of standard
mako listing at $75.00 will remain tho same
uoxt year. No doubt some of tho machines

$75 aud $S5 noxt season, It is commonly bo
