scarcity of money in this locality at preseut
tho Welsh llros. closed their engagement hero
Saturday night to tho biggest business they

performances were up to tho usual high

Mr. Phillips' Illness,
Hon. D. D. Phillips is nt his homo in Gor
don suuering from n tumorous, cancerous
growth in tho stomach. Mr. Phillips has
been in ill health for some time, nnd will
leuvo on Monday for Philadelphia to enter
tho German hospital, where an operation
will ho performed hy tho eminent specialist,
Dr. Dovers. It was reported that Mr.
Phillips' condition last night was critical, hut
a telephone message from Gordon this after
noon states that ho is not oven confined to
his hod. Mr. Phillips' many frieuds hero
nnd throughout tho county hopo for his
speedy recuvery.

on ono of the premlsos of Mrs, Mouaghan, on
West Ccntro street, hy whom Shupack was
recently evicted, for selling liquor on
Sunday and soiling to minors, beforo Justice
Williams last evening. Shupack sworo that
ho bought whiskey there on Sunday, nud
two boarders, Simon Lovlno and Isaac Gold
stuln, who claims lie is only 15 years of age.

Albert Boyer, a former proprietor of the

warrant sworn out by II. D. Brossman & Sou,
of Heading, for whom Boyer sold cigars since

charged him with embezzlement in tho sum
of $250. Tho accused waived a hearing nud
says that ho will bo ahlo to fully clear him
self of tho charge.
