Tho Orphans' Court contest convened yes terday afternoon, Tho greater part of tho afternoon was taken no with an argument on a motion made by John W. Ityon for an order commanding all tax collectors of the county to open their books. This motion was over ruled. At tho last session of this court rules had been granted on Tax Collector M. J. Scanlau, of Shenandoah, Tax Collector A, J. Dougherty, of Butler township, to show cause Why they should not open their books for inspection. Tho answers of both collec tors were read. Both answered that they do not refuse tho persons calling to examine tho books so far as their individual interests were concerned but they did not think they wero obliged to givo several days of their time to an examination such as that proposed. Scanlau answered that he was willing to inswer as n witness and bring with him his books. Dougherty denied tho right requested by the petitioners and submitted that to givo liis time ho is entitled to compensation.
