Moanwhilo, tho old Justices continue business at tho old stand and, it may be incidentally remarked, tiiat anything they may do until such time as tho court may enter a judgment of ouster agnlnst them will bo , perfectly legal. At Pottsvillo this morning nnswors woro filed to rulo for a mandamus to require tlio Judges of Election who hnvo failed to do go to mako official returns of tho votes cast at tlio spring election for Lawlornnd Cardin as Justice? of tho Peace. It is also contended that thero was tv majority and mlnoilty Inspector at tho Fourth ward poll and they concurred in whatever return was mado by tho Judgo of Election of that ward. The Cirantl Jury Iteport The grand jury has submitted their report to tho court, and among other things it con tains : Wo notice with regret that tlio Direc tors of tho Poor propose publishing quartorly tho names of thu recipients of out-door relief. If tho object is to guard against being imposed upon by undeserving parties, wo deem it unnecessary and will only add useless expense to tho county, as tho law has provided sullicicnt safeguard, if tho Directors will excrciso ordinary diligenco in tho per formance of their duty. The Directors aro allowed expenses to visit their district periodically and can personally investigate any cases they havo reason to suspect, and obtain information in a general way as to tho worthiness of all cases in thoir respective districts. Wo would suggest that in tho event of fraud being discovered, that all parties concerned therein bo prosecuted to tho full extent of the law. Wo regard tho publication of tlio names of tho unfortunato poor ns unchristianliko and as simply adver tising and parading their poverty, thus further adding to their humiliation and affliction. Hence, we most respectfully recommend that tlio Directors reconsider tlio proposed publication. Tho Justices of tho Peaco are admonished to oxcrciso good judgment in tlio disposition of many cases brought beforo them of a trivial naturp and endeavor to effect settlements and thereby savo the county costs. Tho grand jury regretted that it was not in their provlnco to tako action directly In tho matter, as many of tho cases returned aro of such an exceed ingly trivial charaotcr that ono would, had wo tho power, visit all tho costs upon tho justices returning them to court.
