Tho wifo of Mr. D. liobinson, a prominent
lumborman of Hartwick, N. V., was sick

was arrested on Sunday on board a steamer'

In the struggle that followod, Mrs.
Proper's right arm was fractured. She was
chokod until unconscious, and wns then
outraged. Her cries attracted tbo atten
tion of a farmer's wifo, uud she drovo tho
brute away. Mrs. Proper died Sunday
night, having been unconscious most of

William Smith and J. Brace, engaged In
a sensational shooting affray, both receiv

men met near Bruco's house, and both
opened fire with pistols. Smith was shot
